Lions are the only truly social big cats, living in groups called pride which is made of upto 30 lions, mostly related females and their cubs.Female lions do most of the hunting, working together with strategy and teamwork. Male lions are known for their majestic manes, which can signal strength and health.A lion’s roar can be heard up to 8 kilometers (5 miles) away and can run at speeds of up to 80 km/h (50 mph) in short bursts.They spend up to 20 hours a day resting or sleeping. In Maasai Mara Lions primarily hunt large animals like zebras, wildebeests, and buffalo. Cubs are playful and curious, but only about half survive to adulthood in the wild.Lions are often called the “King of the Jungle,” even though they mainly live in grasslands and savannas. Wild lion populations are declining due to habitat loss and human conflict.Lions play a crucial role in maintaining balance in their ecosystem as top predators.
