The FGCU Vegan & Vegetarian Club team is proud and honored to announce that we are the recipients of the 2019 - 2020 Oustanding Service Award for FGCU RSOs presented by . You can watch the official award ceremony video on their Instagram channel, it was in β€œRSO Awards Part 1”. We were recognized for our work in connecting Students, Faculty, & Staff of FGCU, along with the wider SWFL community this year! This primarily came about from our 2 premier events of the year, The SWFL Climate March back in September and the FGCU Vegfest this semester. These events brought hundreds and hundreds of people together to discuss he topics of climate change, political action, plant based diets, holistic wellness, animal rights and more. This recognition means so much at this time, as half of our Vegan Club team graduates this semester. Thank you & for your work for the club this year; we wish we could celebrate this in person. And of course thanks also to Rachel Brown & (Allison) who will continue working to bring Vegan bliss to campus next year. Thank you everyone who attended our events or participated in the journey. It has been a spectacular year! πŸ’―

Hey everyone! Vegan Club has decided this is as good a time as any to finally release / publish photos from our Friday September 27th, 2019 SWFL Climate March held at FGCU. This first post highlights the main student organizers of the event / the officers of Vegan Club. including: Colby Brownell ( ), Krister Martinez ( ), Allison Mertz ( ), Rachel Brown ( ), & Xylo Smith-Pajares ( ). Today on Instagram , Vegan Club’s Vice President Rachel Brown, was announced to be a winner of the Inaugural 2019 - 2020 FGCU S.T.A.R. Award! πŸŒŸπŸŽ–πŸ΅ The award celebrates female students & faculty who through the pillars of (Service, Truth, Advocacy, & Resiliency) *STAR* have made a positive difference at FGCU! Rachel is a Environmental Engineering Major, who just during this Academic Year, along with being Vegan Club VP, also founded the Fort Myers chapter of Sunrise ( ) and played a major role in the Friday September 27th 2019, FGCU / SWFL Climate March hosted at FGCU. She has been fighting for months for climate change to be taken seriously at FGCU and in SWFL, and promoting progressive & humane approaches to tackling the challenges we face in the world today. She supports the Green New Deal proposal for the USA to adopt, and has also drafted a Green New Deal document for FGCU! This and more, we are sure, helped differiente her from other student nominees and helped her win this award! Thank you MLD for giving this opportunity to celebrate one of our own, and of course Congratulations Again to Rachel Brown!! (She doesn’t have a personal Instagram, but you can send her messages on Facebook or to the sunrise fort myers Insta )
