Lee County Florida School District - Transparency Project

𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿.

We hear constant campaigns calling for higher teacher pay and expanded student services. They claim to speak for parents, teachers, students, and school staff. Those are worthy goals. The question is whether the same voices ever speak as clearly for the people who actually fund the system, the taxpayers.

Far fewer campaigns focus on representing the taxpayers who are required to fund those services.

Lee County has roughly 875,000–890,000 residents. A significant share of the local economy and public payroll is tied to the school system and related public employment. Among roughly 440,000–445,000 registered voters, a motivated minority that favors higher taxes and expanded spending can easily prevail if overall turnout is low. If only half the voters show up, a determined 25% bloc can decide the outcome. Stopping that requires strong conservative turnout closer to 60% or higher of registered voters.

Some of the most persistent online critics of the current school board’s cost-control efforts have professional backgrounds in the New York public education system and collect substantial pensions from it. Their public positions on spending, unions, and local control often track more closely with progressive priorities than with the limited government, taxpayer-first approach most Lee County conservatives expect. One current board member appears increasingly aligned with that same viewpoint.

Your vote matters. Keeping a school board focused on controlling costs and respecting taxpayers is one of the clearest ways to protect Lee County from the higher-tax, higher-spending model that has strained school systems elsewhere.

If you want to give more of your own money to education or any cause, that is your right. Voting to compel your neighbors to do the same is a different matter.

The premise that a motivated minority should use the ballot box to expand forced funding has no natural stopping point. Florida has spent years moving in the opposite direction toward parental choice, fiscal discipline, and local accountability.

That progress is worth defending.

𝗩𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱!

I am appreciative of the men in the county who stood up to take on a role of school board members. Men have a vital contribution in familes and society in spite of what the 1960's to 2020's try to tell us!

My theory on politics is you can be an as***le if you are compelling, but if you sense your compelling nature is fleeting better start addressing the as***le part before that is all you have left.

The goal of a politician in a republic is to evaluate the information they receive from government employees and to distinguish facts from bias, particularly when bias may be used to shield failing operations and preserve jobs.

If information is missing, incorrect, or applied improperly, the responsible individual or group should be reviewed and should be subject to serious consequences, including termination.

Even without unions, employee perspectives and potential bias can still be influenced and conveyed through leadership within the organization.
