For those of you who don’t know me…

I’m Ashley Pruitt. I am a Christ follower, Wife, Mother of 4, Farmer, and local business owner.

My husband and I purchased our property in November of 2020, when the world was still flipped, turned upside down. 🌳 Whispering Oaks Farm was born. We didn’t really have a plan, we just felt very drawn to a life of self-sufficiency for our family. We were homeschooling our oldest two at the time, so much of our learning was done outside.

I quickly realized that the farm offered a unique opportunity for learning in an outdoor environment. We started by offering a few small classes in 2021 and by 2022 we had a full calendar of opportunities we were offering to homeschool families and our community.

In 2023 we began to offer our first drop off programs, introducing the Farm School and Junior Farmhand Programs. Ms. Carolina led our Gardening classes for both our Growing Gardeners and our Tots.

2024 was a big year for us, as our “Titus the Livestock Guardian Dog” book was published, our Junior Farmhand Program entered its second year and we introduced our Little Acorns & Investigate, Navigate, Create I.N.C. Programs.

Last year we expanded both our Little Acorns and I.N.C. Programs. Our Little Acorns gained their very own building and separate play space. We also won Platinum for best Children’s Activity in the Best of Fort Myers Awards. 🥇

This year, in 2026 we’re so excited to be further expanding our INC Investigate • Navigate • Create • program and opening a second location, when we begin our third year in the fall. 🤩 We’ve also added some classes for our older students in Bushcraft Bootcamp and Farmhand as well.

We started this journey with neither of us knowing much about Agriculture or livestock, or running homeschool classes, but with a determination to make it work regardless. It’s taken a lot of trial and error and some pretty hard lessons to get to where we are today, but I couldn’t be more grateful to our community for the support you’ve shown us .

I grew up being a statistic, born to a teen parent, in poverty, only to repeat the very same cycle when I became a teen with my own children. I wasn’t supposed to be anybody, I wasn’t supposed to succeed, at least not according to this world. But I live by His word, and He created me for so much more 🙌

Thank God that His purpose for my life was so much more than I could have ever dreamed possible for myself. 💗

Our little ones learned about honeybees by taking on the roles of the queen bee, drone bees, worker bees and acting out their parts. 🐝 Which colony do you think collected the most pollen from the flowers?

A learning experience always ends well when you get to taste honey directly from the farm where our preschool is located. 🍯
