There’s a new move in the studio - think 1 arm hand stand.
We are all in varying stages but excited to spend the lull that is summer in SWFL to work on our skill.
Single Arm Handstand, even with a ladder support arm is an extremely demanding exercise.
It requires focus and patience, core strength and full upper body loading.
This is a raw strength, body press exercise for the shoulder, triceps and arm that’s hard to replicate with other equipment.
Meet Michelle, a client that came to me in debilitating pain just a few months ago.
Michelle was a patient referral and could not perform her daily activities due to back, hip and leg pain.
With Fascial Stretch Therapy, a table based assisted stretching service I provide, she is now able to resume activities at home.
Michelle has endured set backs and shed some tears, all while progressing to the point she could take her annual Sanibel vacation.
She was most concerned about the stairs and long walk to the beach. Michelle had no problems and a wonderful time with her friends!
The work here we do on the ladders is impressive and gets most of the attention.
As important for many clients is the work that doesn’t impress, but restores function, reduces or eliminates pain and allows them to return to normalcy.

A long time ago, fellow teacher Jennifer Briggs taught me the bottom arm brace that was used in to hang from a pole in a house we were renting while taking our Franklin Method Level 2 test.
This lever is important for calisthenics/wall bar training. I’m grateful to utilize it for stability in my 1 arm hangs.
