Smart Endeavors ABA's mission is to inspire our families to Reach Beyond Limits!

Parent training isn’t just a “nice add-on” to ABA—it’s essential to whether treatment actually works long term. Think about it this way: your child might receive a few hours of therapy each week, but they spend the majority of their time with you—at home, in the community, and during everyday routines. If the strategies being used in therapy only stay in the therapy room, progress will be limited. Parent training bridges that gap. It gives you the tools to respond to behaviors in a consistent, effective way. You learn how to reinforce the right skills, how to reduce challenging behaviors, and most importantly, how to turn everyday moments—like mealtime, bath time, or getting ready for school—into learning opportunities. It also helps prevent regression. Without consistency across environments, children can become confused about expectations. What works in therapy might not carry over at home unless parents are trained and supported. And this isn’t about turning parents into therapists—it’s about empowering you. You know your child better than anyone. ABA works best when your insight, your involvement, and your consistency are part of the process. At the end of the day, the goal of ABA isn’t just progress during sessions—it’s meaningful, lasting change in your child’s daily life. And that only happens when parents are part of the treatment.

Many parents find themselves wondering: am I reinforcing good behavior, or accidentally bribing my child?
Please join us on May 20th 2026 at 6:30PM for a free, in-person parent workshop designed to bring clarity and confidence to everyday parenting decisions.

Led by BCaBA, Bella Brimm, this informative yet approachable session will explore the key differences between bribery and reinforcement. Understanding this distinction can make a meaningful impact on how we respond to children’s behavior. One approach helps build lasting, positive habits, while the other may lead to quick results that don’t always stick.

You’ll walk away with practical, realistic strategies you can start using right away to encourage cooperation, strengthen positive behaviors, and feel more confident in your parenting approach.

Parents will also have the opportunity to ask questions, gain helpful tools, and connect with other families in a welcoming, judgment-free environment. Whether you’re feeling unsure, curious, or simply looking for more effective strategies, this workshop is here to inform, empower, and support you.

Do you ever feel like your child is testing every limit? It’s easy to get caught up in constant reminders, corrections, and discipline. On those days, it can help to focus on the behaviors you want to see more of rather than focusing on the behaviors you don’t. Positive reinforcement is a simple but powerful way to do this—adding something your child likes immediately after a desired behavior to encourage it to happen again. This could be praise, attention, a high-five, or a favorite activity. Even small moments count: when your child waits patiently, uses polite words, or follows a direction, acknowledging it can make a big difference. Remember to “catch your child doing good”—the more you notice and reinforce these positive behaviors, the more often they will appear, helping your child learn the skills you value while keeping the day a little calmer for both of you.

Some days are just long, and our energy feels completely drained. In those moments, it’s important to pick and choose our battles. Imagine your child asks for a cookie before dinner. After a tiring day, you might not have the energy to navigate the tantrums or push back against testing boundaries. Often, parents say “no” at first but give in when the behavior escalates. While this might feel like the easiest option, it actually reinforces the behavior, teaching the child that persistence pays off. On days like this, it can be wiser to simply say “yes” from the start. This avoids unnecessary conflict and preserves your energy for the battles that truly matter.
