I keep seeing explainer videos, and ads for NAR settlement training - people talking through, long-form, all the ramifications. The federal appeals court gave the DOJ the right to throw out the $418 million settlement, and it did. Now it seems to be pursuing, unfettered, what it's, seemingly, been pursuing for at least four years; completely untethering buy-side compensation from listings.
The settlement barred it from being advertised in the MLS, but did not bar its existence. This doesn't seem to be enough for the DOJ, and now they have the right to push it.
I'm all for education, but it simply is not correct to explain the ramifications of a settlement that does not, and will not exist. Of all the careers, I would think a real estate professional would know that a deal isn't a deal until it's a deal. The settlement is not a deal, and it also isn't going to be a deal.
What do you tell a buyer who's buying furniture because they wrote a $600,000 offer on a property worth $2 million? You tell them to slow down a bit, cuz we're only about 1/3rd of the way to anything close to something that will ever be anything.

Florida real estate licensees, I just spoke with the DBPR. They confirmed that they did not accurately process thousands of Post-Licensing courses this past renewal, and they are now processing them. If you completed Post, and your license is Null & Void, it is not really Null & Void.... Yes... that's what I said, and they assured me this was accurate. They said it would just take time for them to process these.
I will choose to interpret that, if you completed Post, and renewed - even though they show your license Null & Void - your license is renewed.................. pending their update.
Just finished a Course I update. It will now be a lot easier to control the pace and move through as quickly as you'd like 👍💪
