🔥 DEVOTION – STAYING STRONG IN A DARK WORLD (Jude 20–23) 🔥
✝️Brothers and sisters, we live in a time of confusion, temptation, and spiritual battle. Many voices, many teachings, many distractions. But God gives us a clear call through the little book of Jude.✝️
1️⃣ “But you, beloved…” – God’s word for you
Jude has just described false teachers and people who are devoid of the Spirit. ✝️
Then he turns and says: “But you, beloved…”
• God is not confused about who are His.
• He sees you—your struggles, your faith, your weakness, your desire to follow Jesus. 👀❤️
• In a world that pushes people toward sin and pride, God calls you beloved, called, and kept in Christ.
This passage is not to crush you, but to strengthen you. 💪🔥
2️⃣ Building yourselves up in your most holy faith 🧱📖
“Building yourselves up” means spiritual growth is not automatic. We don’t grow just because we once prayed a prayer or go to church sometimes.
It looks like:
• Daily Word – Opening the Bible even when you feel tired or busy. 📖
• Real prayer – Talking honestly with God about your temptations, fears, and decisions. 🙏
• Real fellowship – Letting other believers challenge you, encourage you, and ask you hard questions. 🧑🤝🧑
• Obedience in small things – Choosing truth, purity, and integrity in hidden places. 🕊️
Ask yourself:
👉 What one habit is building me up?
👉 What one habit is tearing me down?
You don’t have to change everything in one day. Start with one step of obedience. 🚶♂️🚶♀️
3️⃣ Praying in the Holy Spirit 🙌🔥
“Praying in the Holy Spirit” is more than just repeating religious words.
It means:
• Praying with a surrendered heart: “Lord, I want Your will more than mine.”
• Letting the Spirit guide your prayers—who to pray for, what to pray about, what to confess.
• Allowing God to change your desires so you begin to want what He wants.
At first we think, “But I want what I want.” As we draw closer to God, something powerful happens:
our heart slowly shifts, and His plans start to become our deepest desires. 💗
Simple prayer:
“Holy Spirit, lead my prayers today. Change my heart where it is hard, cold, or selfish.” 🙏🔥
4️⃣ Keep yourselves in the love of God ❤️🕊️
Jude does not say, “Make God love you.” God already proved His love at the cross, while we were still sinners and enemies.✝️
To “keep yourselves in the love of God” means:
• Stay close to Him—don’t drift into coldness and complacency.
• Keep a heart of repentance, not excuses.
• Remember that God’s love is holy: it welcomes us as we are, but it never leaves us as we are. 💥
We can’t hide behind the phrase “God loves me” to stay comfortable in sin.
God’s love is not permission to stay stuck—it’s power to be changed. ✝️
5️⃣ Waiting for the mercy of Jesus – living with hope 👑✨
Jude says we are “waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.”
This is not fear of judgment; it is excited expectation:
• One day Jesus will return. 🙌
• Every hidden act of faithfulness will be remembered.
• Every tear, every insult, every sacrifice for His name will be answered with glory and joy. 😭➡️😊
We are not just surviving; we are waiting for a King who is coming back for His people. 👑
6️⃣ Mercy for those who doubt & those near the fire 🤝🔥
Jude gives us a mission:
1️⃣ “Have mercy on some who are doubting.”
• Doubt is not the same as proud unbelief.
• Many brothers and sisters struggle with questions, shame, or confusion.
• They don’t need our anger—they need our mercy: listening, encouragement, Scripture, and prayer. 👂📖🙏
2️⃣ “Save others, snatching them out of the fire.”
• Some are very close to destroying their marriages, ministries, or lives.
• God may use you to call them back—like grabbing someone out of a burning house. 🏚️🔥
• This takes courage and love. It might be an uncomfortable conversation, but it can save a soul.
3️⃣ “On some have mercy with fear, hating even the garment polluted by the flesh.”
• Love the person, but do not play with their sin.
• Help them, but guard your own heart so you are not pulled into the same darkness. 🛡️
We don’t just walk with Jesus alone; we are called to fight for one another. ⚔️
7️⃣ The God who keeps us 🙌
Jude finishes with a powerful promise:
✝️“Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of His glory with great joy…” (Jude 24–25)✝️
• We are not keeping ourselves by our strength alone.
• The same God who called us is able to keep us, forgive us, restore us, and present us with joy.
• Our part: build, pray, keep, show mercy.
• His part: keep us and bring us home. 🕊️🏠
PRAYER 🙏🔥
“Lord Jesus,
thank You that in a dark world You still call me ‘beloved.’
Teach me to build myself up in this most holy faith,
to pray in the Holy Spirit,
and to keep myself in Your love every day.
Give me a soft, repentant heart. ❤️
Save me from complacency and secret sin.
Use me to show mercy to those who are doubting
and courage to reach those close to the fire.
Thank You that You are able to keep me from stumbling
and will one day present me blameless with great joy.
I trust You, my Lord and my King.
Amen. 🙏🔥✝️”
