Thank you All County Music!
Terry Anthony knows a thing or two about professional playing and teaching. Here's some not so subtle name drops, as he's recorded with Frank Sinatra and Frank Jr. and has appeared with Tony Bennett, Natalie Cole, Sammy Davis Jr., Kenny Rodgers, and a list that reads like a Who's Who in American music. Funny thing, one might think that after all this playing that there is no reason to try something new, but that wasn't the case with Terry, as he selected a JodyJazz Inc. DV HR for his alto and a DV HR for his tenor. So if you're looking for a teacher who is a seasoned pro, call us at (954) 722-3424 and we'll pass on his contact info, as he teaches sax, clarinet, flute and holds a degree in oboe performance.

Embouchure: Support, Don’t Squeeze
Your mouth should seal around the mouthpiece with:
🔸Firm corners
🔸Relaxed jaw
🔸 Flat chin
If you bite down:
🔸The sound gets thin
🔸High notes become sharp
🔸Low notes disappear
A balanced embouchure lets the reed vibrate

Did you know? A bad reed can make a good player sound frustrated. Before you blame your embouchure… before you assume you “just can’t get it”…
Check your reed. Reeds are natural cane. That means they vary, even in the same box.
If:
• The sound feels resistant
• It squeaks more than usual
• Low notes won’t speak
• The tone feels thin or lifeless
• You’re working twice as hard for half the sound
It may not be you. It may be the reed.

Thank you so much Dee for your kind words. It means a great deal to know that the lessons have been both enjoyable and impactful. Music should be inspiring, challenging, and rewarding, and it’s a privilege to help guide that journey.

Studying with a teacher who has years of professional, real-world experience means learning proper technique from the start, developing a strong, confident tone, and understanding how music works beyond the practice room. A seasoned professional brings insight you can’t find in a method book: how to phrase a melody, how to listen and blend with other musicians, and how to build musical confidence that lasts.
When you learn from someone who has performed, recorded, and lived the music, you’re not just taking lessons, you’re learning from experience, mentorship, and a deep understanding of the craft.
