🚀 Close the theory-to-implementation gap!

Most entrepreneurship PD teaches educators about social impact pedagogy. It rarely shows them how it actually runs in a live classroom, with real students, real friction and real results.

That's the gap we built the Social Entrepreneurship Collabsite™ to close.

On October 26–27, we're opening our classrooms — not just our slide decks — to Heads of School, Deans, Instructional Coaches, faculty members and program leaders who are ready to move their entrepreneurship programs forward.

If you've ever left a conference with great notes and no path to ex*****on, this one's built differently.

Coaching / Athlete Mindset: We move toward the target we name. 🎯

Teleological thinking is the idea that our thoughts and actions are directed toward an end goal.

In simple terms, we move toward what we think about.

That matters in coaching because the language we use creates a mental target for athletes. When we focus their attention on the outcome we do not want, we may unintentionally move them closer to it.

Think about a child learning to ride a bike. They are doing well until someone calls out, “Watch out for the rock!”

The child focuses on the rock and rides directly toward it.

The same thing happens when a coach says:
❗ “Do not turn the ball over.”
❗ “Do not miss.”
❗ “Do not foul.”
❗ “Do not lose your player.”

Each statement puts the mistake at the center of the athlete’s attention.

Rewiring our coaching means replacing warnings with clear, actionable directions:
🌟 “Protect the ball.”
🌟 “Finish through the target.”
🌟 “Move your feet.”
🌟 “Stay connected to your player.”
🌟 “Make the simple pass.”

This does not mean ignoring risk or pretending mistakes will not happen. It means giving athletes an internal mechanism that directs them toward the next productive action.

We must catch ourselves before we communicate our fear of what might go wrong. We must stay focused on the outcome we want and give athletes a clear picture of how to move toward it.

Our words create the target.

Make sure it is the one we want athletes to hit.

Student before athlete. 📚

For Dr. Jeff Johnson, Vice President of Athletics at Pine Crest School, it is clear that success is measured by more than what happens on the field, court or in the water.

By building intentionally strong connections between the athletics department and academic divisions, Dr. Johnson and his team help prepare student-athletes to navigate demanding practice schedules while maintaining rigorous academic loads.

That means:
🧠 cultivating a growth mindset
✅ learning to prioritize and make intentional choices
📈 maximizing outcomes
⚖️ balancing time and workload demands with discipline and purpose

The season may end, but these are the skills student-athletes will carry into college, their careers, and every challenge that comes next.

It's the stories that people remember. 🌟

Facts can provide information and context. Data can establish a need. Stories make it human.

In the social entrepreneurship program, storytelling is not simply a way to promote a product or venture. It helps students communicate the problem they are working to solve, amplify the experiences of the people affected and demonstrate why their solution matters.

Storytelling builds empathy, creates connection and invites others to become part of the solution. Stories are more than just strengthening a pitch. They are learning to advocate, inspire action, and build a community around meaningful change.

The most powerful social ventures do not begin with, “What can we sell?” They begin with, “Whose story needs to be heard, and how might we help change what happens next?”

A strong story can move people to act.
