🐸 Hopping into 2026 and jumping back into our forest rhythms for the first school day of the new year.

Starting this session with the same spirit of discovery that guided us through the fall by meeting the world exactly where it is, from the river's edge to the heart of the woods. We’re building connections, deepening friendships, and jumping into the new year with learning through purpose, play, and collaborative efforts. Welcome back, everyone!

**Attention parents of kids 4.5-7years old: It’s not too late to join us! We have limited openings in our Forest Kindergarten. Have you been fortunate enough to experience a Ms. Oheo birthday story? 💝

In our Elderberries forest kindergarten, birthdays are more than just a date—they are a journey. When Ms. Oheo puts on her special story apron, the children settle into listening and the magic begins. She weaves a tale of the child’s journey into the world, surrounded by the rustling trees and their captivated friends. It’s a beautiful, grounded way to honor exactly who they are and the light they bring to our class and our community beyond.

While a good part of forest kindergarten is big adventures and grand experiences, we also offer the full day students moments of in breath. A cozy time to cuddle up, relax and listen to a magical story.

Wild Roots, Strong Community: Support River Song Waldorf School - Fort Collins, Colorado and our Forest Kindergarten

Today is your final chance to support Colorado Gives Day and amplify the impact of Forest Kindergarten right here in our Northern Colorado community!

Our Waldorf Forest Kindergarten program, based on the principles of Rudolf Steiner, is more than just outdoor time; it is a foundational investment in resilience, creativity, and deep ecological awareness. By allowing children to learn and grow within the natural world, we foster individuals who understand the interdependence of all things—equipping them to become thoughtful, creative problem-solvers for the future of our community and our collective planet.

Your donation today directly supports this unique, nature-based education. Our commitment to providing families of Northern Colorado with this opportunity is steadfast. Donating today will not only qualify you for numerous child care tax credits and deductions, but will allow us to add essential improvements to our play yards to keep our children safe, cool, and free to comfortably create and grow together.

We have a very special visitor this week - Ms. Oheo's friend George the Dwarf has come to visit us from his mountain mines - and he’s brought GEODES!

These encounters with George ties so beautifully into the wonder and reverence we cultivate in our Waldorf kindergarten. The process of cracking the geodes offers a powerful experiential learning opportunity, requiring focused willpower and strengthening their hands and ending in discovery and awe. This hands-on activity reveals the quiet, crystal magic hidden within the earth and connects our children to the elements and processes deep within the mountains.

It’s a perfect hands-on experience, fostering imagination, physical skill, and a natural curiosity about the world they stand upon. Thank you, George, for bringing us such earthy treasures!

🧚 A cherished Waldorf ritual, we sing the Fire Sprite's Song as we put out mealtime candles, offering a gentle farewell as the elemental beings travel away in the smoke, completing their work.

Taking a moment to tuck under the tent for lunch and finish with a special s'more creating moment, at our school rain doesn’t stop the learning — it deepens it.
When we meet nature as it is, children meet themselves more fully.
