UAV mapping, modeling and multispectral, oh my!

The Drone Center team hosted our very popular Mapping & Modeling seminar at the CSU Foothills Campus and ARDEC research plots this week, and spent time training many new GIS pilots and industry professionals in this technical discipline using a variety of RGB, LiDAR and multi-spectral sensors.

Multiple DJI and NDAA systems were present and airborne, along with a particularly curious gaggle of Canada geese, who we luckily managed to avoid. Stay tuned this fall for our next session!

Summer Programs UAV Internship!

The selection process for our CSU Spur Summer UAV Instructor internship is now boarding and accepting applicants until March 1st! Spend your summer with the Drone Center cadre gaining hands-on experience, supporting high-school aviation workforce development, and empowering the next generation of pilots!

February! As the Drone Center team lifts off into 2026, we're reminded how lucky we are to be at the controls of this thing, from Fort Collins to the western slope, from Christman Field to CSU Spur, and from the classroom to the flight line. Fly safely out there, Colorado State Rams!

As part of our ongoing commitment to workforce development and STEM education, the Drone Center team joined high school students from across northern Colorado at Hewlett Packard Enterprise for today's Day of Industry in Fort Collins! Next generation pilots, engineers and CSU students!

On Memorial Day, as always, the Drone Center team honors and remembers service and sacrifice. We fly over the free republic today because of the warfighters of yesterday.

FLY-IN POSTPONED.

Due to the very high likelihood of consistent inclement weather and restricted visibility at Christman Field and the surrounding airports, we must regretfully postpone the Fly-In event scheduled for tomorrow.

We will notify our CSU and aviation community as soon as we have a new date in the summer, please fly safely out there!

The Drone Center team is always thrilled to collaborate in the K-12 STEM space, most notably when hosting the next generation of engineers! This was an awesome day of flying, learning, and showcasing drone aviation and remote sensing!
