Congratulations to Annie Ratliff, this year's recipient of the $1,000 scholarship. Your hard work and dedication made this moment possible, and the chapter is proud to support you.

Events like today are a reminder of why this club exists, to recognize excellence, invest in the future, and serve the communities we call home.

Today, the Fort Bragg Chapter SAMC Color Guard had the honor of representing the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club at the XVIII Airborne Corps Change of Responsibility Ceremony, bidding farewell to Command Sgt. Maj. Bryan Barker and welcoming Command Sgt. Maj. Brett W. Johnson as the Corps' new senior enlisted adviser.

Moments like this are why the Color Guard shows up. Honoring those who have given everything, welcoming those who will carry it forward, and standing as a reminder of what this profession demands of its best. It is a privilege to play even a small role in a moment this historic.

Congratulations to CSM Johnson, and thank you, CSM Barker, for everything you gave to this Corps and our formations.

CLUE #2

Beyond the old watcher of weathered gray bone,
where stories of quiet professionals are known,
stands a keeper of memories, steadfast and still,
holding echoes of courage, of purpose, of will.

Within its embrace rest the shadows of men
who ventured where few would dare venture again.
Yet the path does not end where their histories sleep—
for another place nearby keeps a different kind of keep.

When the lessons of warriors have all been unfurled,
look not to the past, but away from that world.
Seek where burdens grow lighter and voices grow small,
and continue your hunt where calm answers the call.

The Fort Bragg Sergeant Audie Murphy Club held its monthly meeting yesterday, bringing together members to discuss current and future chapter business, vote on upcoming volunteer opportunities, and continue planning ways to serve Soldiers, Families, and our community.

These meetings are more than administrative updates—they are an opportunity for leaders committed to selfless service to come together, share ideas, and ensure our chapter remains actively engaged across Fort Bragg and beyond.

Yesterday also gave us the opportunity to celebrate our newest members who have PCS’ed in and recognize the continued growth of our chapter. The future of the SAMC remains bright because of leaders who are willing to step forward, volunteer, and make a difference.

While we are excited for what lies ahead, we also took time to bid farewell to two of our members and council members as they prepare to PCS. Their leadership, mentorship, and countless hours of service have made a lasting impact on this chapter and the Soldiers we support. Though they may be leaving Fort Bragg, their legacy within this organization will remain.

Thank you both for your dedication to the ideals of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club and for everything you have done to strengthen this chapter. We wish you continued success at your next duty station and know you will continue to make a difference wherever the Army takes you.

“Leadership is not about position—it is about service.”

CLUE #1

Where cadence and stillness quietly spar,
a gray-boned creature lies low like a scar.
It crouches in silence beside the day’s roar,
half-hidden, half-listening to footsteps and more.

Its weather-worn spine holds the weight of the land,
a patient old sentinel carved out of sand.
Its shadow a shelter where footfalls don’t land,
and the treasure waits curled in the curve of its hand.

Though runners pass by with their breath like a drum,
this stone-shaped watcher stays wordless and numb.
Seek where its hush meets the pulse of the street,
and you’ll find what it guards at the edge of its feet.

The Fort Bragg Sergeant Audie Murphy Club wrapped up another quarterly Adopt-A-Highway cleanup this morning along our adopted stretch of roadway. Members and candidates gave up part of their Saturday to show up, put in the work, and leave the community a little better than they found it.

That is what leading from the front looks like off duty.
Thank you to everyone who came out and contributed. Your time and effort reflect the standard this chapter holds year-round.

“YOU LEAD FROM THE FRONT”

This morning, members of the Fort Bragg Chapter of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club joined Survivor Outreach Services volunteers at Hendricks Stadium to set up boots and place tags in honor of fallen Soldiers. Each pair of boots represents a life given in service, and each tag carries a name that a Gold Star family still carries in their heart.

It was an early morning and a quiet kind of work, but it mattered. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside SOS and to stand in remembrance with the families who gave so much.

To the Gold Star families of Fort Bragg, we see you, and we honor them alongside you.

This morning, the Fort Bragg Chapter of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club hosted its May Monthly Meeting and Leader Professional Development session at the NCO Academy.

We were honored to welcome Colonel Ken Dwyer, Special Forces officer, Ranger, combat diver, and decorated combat veteran, as our guest speaker. Col. Dwyer delivered a powerful message on building resilience, and his words spoke directly to why this club exists:

"You have volunteered to go above and beyond the minimum requirements to be the best version of yourselves, to be the best leader that you can be for others around you."
That is exactly the standard this chapter holds itself to, and exactly the kind of leader the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club is committed to developing.

A special thank you to everyone who came out this morning, including the many new faces we were glad to see in the room. Your presence matters, and we hope to see you again soon.
Thank you, Colonel Dwyer, for your time, your story, and your investment in the next generation of Army leaders.
