Dear Fox Den Families and community,
You may have seen a social media post raising concerns about care in our infant classroom. I understand that they may raise questions about The Fox Den as a whole. You deserve to hear from me directly.
An infant was held without proper support. I addressed it with the person involved as soon as I learned of it and explained the danger. I did not laugh off the parent’s concern. In another instance, a teacher stepped away from an infant during tummy time to retrieve a warmed bottle. The child should have been moved to a safer position or another teacher should have stayed with the child. A pacifier was also sent home with the wrong child. That was an error, and I am sorry it occurred.
When the parent brought these concerns to me, I began looking into them immediately and called her back within an hour of her initial call. I take concerns about scholar care seriously.
We are reinforcing proper infant handling and supervision with our infant team, along with checks of children’s personal items before they are used or sent home. We are also reviewing how diapers and spare clothing are tracked so families receive clear communication when supplies run low. While these events occurred in the infant classroom, our responsibility to provide attentive care extends to every classroom.
I cannot discuss another family’s private circumstances, but I welcome questions about your own child’s care. Please contact me directly if you have a concern. Our responsibility is to listen, make improvements, and earn your trust every day.
I am home today after developing a fever yesterday, but as always, please contact me with further questions.
*Edit: Due to the number of out-of-state comments that this post has attracted, I have restricted comments to those within our community. Thank you.
