This group of students will be leaving Fontana JT8 School District for the last time as a class today. It seems like just yesterday that they were hiking the trails at their 6th grade Outdoor Education week at camp.

The OE staff would like to wish you all the best as you take your next steps. Keep doing great things, Falcons!

We’ll leave you with the closing to our OE camp song which seems so fitting today.

ā€œAnd so before we close our eyes to sleep
Let us pledge each other that we’ll keep
OE friendships strong and deep
ā€˜Till we meet again.ā€

As our 8th graders prepare for their last day of school tomorrow, take a moment to look back on their time at camp in 6th grade.

Thank you to the Big Foot Lions Club for covering our transportation costs for our week long, overnight trip to camp! Although we initially walk to camp along the shore path, we use busses to transport us to local ecosystems for our studies throughout the week. Fontana students and staff appreciate the community support! Thank you, Lions!

Support those who support us and mark your calendars for their 40th annual Lobster Boil this summer on Saturday, July 25th! We hope to see you there!

Mark your calendars for summer Kishwauketoe Nature Conservancy (KNC) events!

Hi friends, Danielle here with Kishwauketoe Nature Conservancy, and I am so excited to officially announce that Kish Kid Explorers is back for the summer!

This summer we will be offering FREE, all-ages outdoor education programming on Mondays and Wednesdays at 9 AM throughout the summer. Families can expect creek exploration, nature journaling, muddy adventures, sensory hikes, insect exploration, tree identification, stories & s’mores, night hikes, and so much more.

Kish Kid Explorers is designed to help children and their families explore and connect with the natural world around them through hands-on experiences, curiosity, creativity, and a little bit of mess. Whether your child is already obsessed with nature or just beginning to explore the outdoors, there is a place for everyone here as long as you bring a sense of wonder.

Classes are drop-in style with no registration required.

We are also excited to collaborate with Barrett Memorial Library and GLC’s Helen Rohner Fishing Park on several events and programs throughout the summer, including our Dig Into Summer Event on June 5!

If you are part of a homeschool group, daycare, camp, scouting organization, or another large group interested in attending or scheduling a guided hike or private nature experience, please reach out to us at [email protected]

We can’t wait to explore with you this summer!
