Had a great afternoon/evening today. Started at the Fall Ball at Theisen Middle School and then ended at Parkside Elementary for their Cultural Night. At the Fall Ball there was dodge ball, volleyball, a silent disco, a movie, an escape room, and snacks. The cultural night consisted of a museum, art work, Hmong dancers and a meal that celebrated many cultures. My husband came with me to that and he really enjoyed it.

Please watch for this in your mail. This is the best way to get your opinion across to the district about the referendum. We want to hear what you want. Your opinion matters. You will only get one per household, but everyone 18 and older in your house can fill one out, you will just need to request more surveys by contacting the school district. If you have any questions, please reach out to any board member, the Superintendent (Matt Steinbarth), or the Chief Operations Officer (Mike Gerlach).
Fond du Lac School District exploring $7.5M+ referendum despite balanced budget
The district saved about $6 million from its $136 million budget from cuts to staff, consultants, programs and course offerings and by increasing class size.

Well, I was finally able to make it to summer school yesterday and today. Yesterday, I was able to observe a lot of great learning at Parkside Elementary and Riverside Elementary School. I spoke to many students to find out all the fun learning they were doing. I spoke with the music teacher, Ms. Mueller, at Parkside Elementary and she explained one of the classes she was teaching, Music around the World (can't remember the exact name). The students learned about new countries, dances, songs, and instruments every couple of days. They also made some of the instruments. At Riverside Elementary School I got to watch the rehearsal of a play of "Chicken Little". The kids did a great job. Today I went to the high school to see what was happening with middle and high school summer school. Many of the high schoolers were finished with their credit recovery classes, so I was able to visit the middle school tech ed class. I did not get any pictures, but I was able to see all of the projects they worked on throughout the summer.

What a great 2 days. Yesterday I was able to be a part of the Woodworth Middle School Fond du Lac School District 8th grade celebration along with 3 others of my fellow school board members; Luke Frame for FDL School Board, Tom Oliver, Fond du Lac School Board Member, and Joan Pennau. It was an amazing celebration and it was great seeing all of the parents and family members present to support these young scholars. Sorry no pictures from this. Right after that I went to the 5th grade celebration at Evans Elementary. I walked in just as the 5th graders were walking into the gym and onto the risers. This too was an amazing celebration. So many family members there to support their scholars. I have a couple of pictures from that celebration. One is of the principal, Nick Shultis, as he was my children's teacher at Lakeshore Elementary many years ago, and the other of Tami Domasky, my friend and fellow colleague of many years at Rosenow Elementary School - Fond du Lac School District. I will be partnering with Evans Elementary next year and am super excited to see all of the amazing and fun learning going on there. Today I attended Fond du Lac STEM Academy Graduation along with 4 others of my fellow school board members; Luke Frame for FDL School Board, Tom Oliver, Fond du Lac School Board Member, Katie Moder for FDL School Board and Joan Pennau. This too was a great ceremony with so much family support in the audience. It was also nice to see the rest of the Academy staff and students there as well. Congratulations to all!
