This week, the Rotary Club of Folsom is pleased to welcome Folsom Fire Chief Jason Solak as our guest speaker.

Chief Solak brings more than 30 years of fire service and leadership experience to Folsom. Before joining the City of Folsom, he spent 25 years with the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department, most recently serving as Deputy Fire Chief overseeing operations, training and emergency response readiness.

His career has also included service with the U.S. Forest Service, Rocklin and Benicia fire departments, as well as FEMA’s Urban Search and Rescue Team. A longtime Folsom resident, Chief Solak is now leading the department he has called his community for more than two decades.

We look forward to hearing from Chief Solak about the Folsom Fire Department, public safety, and the priorities ahead for our community.

Celebrating Rotary Service: Paul Harris Fellow Recognitions

At our recent meeting, the Rotary Club of Folsom had the privilege of recognizing two outstanding members with Paul Harris Fellow honors, one of Rotary’s highest recognitions.

A Paul Harris Fellow recognizes significant support of The Rotary Foundation and the humanitarian work it makes possible around the world. Each Paul Harris Fellow level represents $1,000 in cumulative contributions to the Foundation, with additional recognition earned for each additional $1,000.

Congratulations to Vicki Bencken, Paul Harris Fellow +7, in recognition of her longstanding commitment to Rotary and her passion for serving and inspiring young people. Through her involvement with Rotary Youth Exchange, RYLA, and many other areas of service, Vicki continues to demonstrate exceptional leadership and a true commitment to giving back. We are proud to have her serving as our President-Elect for the 2027–2028 Rotary year.

We also congratulate Henry Sundemier, Paul Harris Fellow +3, whose many years of service and leadership have made a lasting impact on our club. Henry has served in numerous Rotary roles, including President of the Rotary Club of Folsom in 2013–2014, and continues to give his time, leadership, and support to our club.

Congratulations to Vicki and Henry on these well-deserved honors. Thank you for your continued dedication, leadership, and commitment to Service Above Self.

The Rotary Club of Sacramento is Throwing District Governor Nominee Ryan Jantzen a 60th Birthday Party! 🥳 (Well… Sort Of!)

On Saturday, October 3, 2026, District Governor Nominee Ryan Jantzen will celebrate his 60th birthday the best way he knows how—combining two of his greatest passions: Rotary and cycling!

He’ll be spending the day on two wheels, surrounded by fellow Rotarians and friends at the Sac Century Challenge.

Hosted by the Rotary Club of Sacramento, this annual cycling event raises critical funds for the Sacramento Children’s Home Crisis Nursery, helping provide emergency care and support for children and families in crisis throughout our region.

Ryan is inviting fellow Rotarians, friends, and cycling enthusiasts to celebrate with him by joining his team on the Metric Century (63-mile) ride. His goal is to average 20 mph, with plenty of rest stops along the way.

Prefer a more “relaxed” pace? Rotarian Samantha Davidson will be leading a team on the 36-mile route, making every rest stop and enjoying the ride, and the shared purpose of supporting an incredible cause.

When the ride is over, the celebration continues with food, drinks, and live music from The Roadies, a band made up of fellow Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Sacramento.

Whether you’re an experienced cyclist, a casual rider, or simply looking for a fun way to support a great cause, we’d love to see a strong turnout from the Rotary Club of Folsom and Rotarians from across Rotary District 5180.

For more information and to register, visit sacramentocentury.com.

Interested in riding with District Governor Nominee Ryan Jantzen’s team or Samantha Davidson’s team? Reach out to Ryan Jantzen or Samantha Davidson for more details. We hope to see you on October 3!

Service Above Self is more than a motto, it’s a commitment demonstrated through generosity, leadership, and a dedication to making a difference.

At our recent meeting, the Rotary Club of Folsom had the privilege of recognizing two individuals with Paul Harris Fellow honors, one of Rotary’s highest recognitions. A Paul Harris Fellow celebrates those whose contributions to The Rotary Foundation help advance peace, improve health, expand education, and create lasting change in communities around the world.

Congratulations to Len Hundshamer, who was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow +2. Len’s unwavering commitment to Rotary, his willingness to serve, and his dedication to our club and community embody the very best of Rotary. Recently named the Rotary Club of Folsom’s Rotarian of the Year, this recognition is a well-deserved tribute to the positive impact he continues to make through his leadership and service.

We also celebrated a very special Paul Harris Fellow recognition presented to Rotary Anne Lynne Bailey by her husband, Immediate Past President Scott Bailey. Although Lynne is not a Rotary member, her unwavering support, countless hours of service, and encouragement throughout Scott’s presidential year helped strengthen our club in countless ways. Her dedication reminds us that Rotary’s impact extends far beyond our membership, and we are deeply grateful for all she has done.

Congratulations to both Len and Lynne on these well-deserved honors. Thank you for living the spirit of Service Above Self and for making a lasting difference in our club, our community, and beyond.

The Don is calling a Family Meeting.

President John “The Don” Baciocco will gather the Rotary family this Thursday evening to share his vision for the 2026–2027 Rotary year, where our club stands today, the opportunities ahead, and how every member has a role to play in our continued success.

This special evening is reserved for our Rotary Club of Folsom family—including members, spouses, partners, and our Rotary Annes—as we come together to kick off another year of “Service Above Self.”

Around here, family means a shared commitment to making our community stronger. It’s one of the many things that makes our club special.

As The Don might say… every family has its traditions, and this is one meeting you won’t want to refuse.

Just one thing… don’t be surprised if The Don asks you for a favor. Around here, favors usually look like volunteering at an event, serving on a committee, mentoring a student, or lending a hand to a fellow Rotarian. That’s how this family gets things done.

We’ll see the family on Thursday.

Rotary Club of Folsom members: Just a reminder that if you plan to have a spouse/partner or Rotary Anne attend this meeting please let Secretary Jim Padgett know today (Tuesday) if possible.

* Prospective members, we’d love to welcome you back to our regular club meeting on Thursday, July 23, 2026. We look forward to seeing you then!
