TaiwanFest NYC

Last Saturday, our students of the Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning Program had the chance to learn about calligraphy with artist Ines Sun.

We began with breathing exercises and posture drills. The movement of qi corresponds to the presentation of ink colors in calligraphy, but there is no right or wrong, every calligraphy is beautiful in its own way. Additionally, they tasted Taiwanese high mountain tea, discussed the works of other calligraphy masters from different periods, and watched Bruce Lee movies during the class. By the end of the workshop, students are proud to present their beautiful calligraphy.

They are learning Mandarin because they married one or with Chinese heritage on one side of the family. In short, they are motivated by love and they desire to communicate with their loved ones. The more we understand each other's culture, the more peace to come.

Summer Introductory Mandarin Course will start on June 11th. Registration opens now! For Adults 18 and up!

🌻The course introduces students to traditional Chinese and builds listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Meanwhile, it gives students the opportunity to explore Taiwanese culture and its history. Also, the Taiwan Center organizes cultural activities from time to time, in which students can immerse themselves in the authentic culture of Taiwan and increase their interest in Mandarin study.

In 2022, the Overseas Chinese Affairs Committee has set up 45 "Taiwan Centers for Mandarin Learning" in Europe and the United States. It is an honor for us to be a part of it and promote Mandarin language learning and introduce Taiwanese culture to New Yorkers. The program is open to people over the age of 18 who are interested in learning Traditional Chinese.

The Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning (TCML) has opened a new adult Mandarin Chinese class and is recruiting adults over 18.

The Spring Session Introductory Manadarin course begins on Saturday, February 26.

🔸 Introductory Mandarin Course🔸
Students will learn to speak, read, write, and listen in Traditional Chinese, as well as Taiwanese history and culture.

When:
February 26th, 2022. (12 weeks, 3 hrs of instruction per week)

Schedule:
Saturday (in-person @ Taiwan Center), 1:00-3:00pm
Wednesday (online via Zoom), 7:00-8:00pm
