Non-weight metrics Nourishing Practices clients use to track progress:

Sleep.
Energy.
Bowel movements.
Perception of stress.
Experience of inflammation.
How many times we moved in a way that brought joy.
How many times we moved in a way that protected independence and freedom to live. on your own at 80.
Time for whimsy.
Financial Freedom.
Ate enough to maintain muscle and mental health.
Ate early enough to allow the body time to rest, digest and repair.
Hydrated adequately.
Ate for fuel.
Ate for joy.

How often do you lead a conversation with how much weight you gained while on vacation? Or in general?

You know what is more interesting? Where you went on that vacation. Who you were with. The memories made. The pictures taken and the food savored.

Tell me about that new sewing hack you learned for making clothes or quilts. The book you read. The new music artist you discovered. Or the song that spoke to you this week.

Tell me about that new hiking trail, your latest strength or run PR, or that jujitsu move you mastered…

There is so much more to life than that number on the scale. Think about the level of propaganda it took for you to base your whole life around that one metric.

So tell me. What is something interesting you would like to share? A picture, a song, a recent book or a favorite quote. Feel free to share in the comments.

Touching base: The benefits of having someone with a little more experience and insight in your corner:

1: Paying someone for their time automatically makes you more accountable and likely to take action.

2. They give you an outside perspective. Where you are doing well, your blind spots and where you are sabotaging yourself.

If you need some support. I offer sessions on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 10am.

Find friends that are willing to travel more than an hour and a half to meet you for coffee and dessert on random whims.

I am incredibly blessed to have these women in my life. And not just because they travel for food and conversation. But because we can have hard conversations. We laugh, we celebrate milestones, we call each other on our bull s**t when needed. We also know that it’s done out of massive amounts of love and respect. We only want the best for each other.

That’s one thing I love about group therapy…an individual can’t out bulls**t the group once they know each other. They will call each other out quick. Whereas individual therapy, the therapist doesn’t always have full context and has to work with the information that is provided by the individual in front of them. And that can be manipulated.

On another note, content going forward will likely be different from what’s been traditionally offered in the past. But I am not quite sure what it will really look like in the next phase.

Nourishing Practices is a personal brand. And right now, I am personally going through some deconstruction and rebuilding. Narratives that used to serve and protect no longer do and are being re-written. It’s like being in that awkward stage of between clothing sizes. One is too small and feels suffocating and yet, you don’t quite fill out the larger size so it looks and feels goofy as f**k. Yeah. That’s where I am in life.

If you are there too. Whew! Keep going. The only way is through. We got this. Because let’s be honest, we couldn’t fit back in that old box even if we wanted too. ✌️

Nourishing Practices offers all inclusive massage therapy pricing to women who prioritize physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.

What is “all-inclusive pricing”? It’s a fancy way of saying if you need hot stones, essential oils, cupping, scraping, hot towel, energy work…it’s included in the flat rate fee of your massage. No sneaky add ons or up sells. You get what you need every time.

*Therapist may use none, one, some or all of the above to ensure you have the best experience possible.

“It’s hard to cook for two.” Exactly. That’s why I don’t. 😆 I cook enough to feed myself all week, have enough to freeze for weeks I don’t have the time or desire to cook, plus some to share with any of my sisterhood that may need a little nourishing support.

First off, I am not glorifying hustle culture. Nope. Not one bit. Hate that s**t. I am sharing because some of you think I have my s**t together and figured out. I do not. I am out here learning life lessons the hard way.

Secondly, I need to clarify, I work part time in the shelter and part time in my business. Mainly because I didn’t want to be “trapped” in a 40 hour work week. So I opted for more autonomy and a 50 hour work week. 😆 (I am a Manifestor in Human Design so those who know, know. Don’t f**k with my freedom and autonomy.)

Also, there is a reason and a plan. You cannot work independently as a social worker until you do your due diligence and spend two years in supervision and pass a licensing exam. I saw zero reason to close a profitable business for two years, just to reopen when the licensing process was done. So, THAT is why we are in the “messy middle.” This is not forever. It is a season.

It’s a season that has me doubling down on boundaries, mental and physical health, learning to ask for help.

Also. Big shout out of gratitude for the clients that show up and share this peaceful office with me. Y’all are part of the reason I still have some sanity left.
