Our team is evolving.

Jenny and Divina have moved on to other opportunities. While it’s bittersweet — we built a comfortable and meaningful working relationship — this growth was necessary for all of us. I’ll always be
grateful for what we created together.

With this change, I stepped in to hire and train new team members. At first, it felt overwhelming. But in hindsight, it became another opportunity for me to refine my own skills in the tandoor — a role Jenny
handled so beautifully.

I chose to document each step, both to let you in on more of the process and to take pride in what I’m building. 😊

It’s rare that I share photos from our truck. I want to — truly — but I just can’t keep up with everything!
Sharing what we’re creating is one of my favorite parts of this journey. Yet with all the responsibilities I’m carrying right now, it’s usually the first thing
to fall to the back burner.

I did find a minute to take these few snapshots of our packaging details — something I still absolutely love!

How has it been one year since we rebirthed Masala Mandala—once a 10-month side-hobby we indulged in to keep our creativity flowing while Suhaag Garden (our event design business at the time) paused due to the
COVID shutdown?

Your inner world reflects your outer world. You attract who you are.

And for me, that’s come with the opportunity to start over 🙏

There is something pure, fresh, clean, and organized about starting a business with almost two decades of experience in building a financially
thriving one.

My focus is on building relationships, first and foremost with myself.
Why?
Because…
…when my inner world matters, who I attract matters
…the thing about making money is that it’s only sustainable and enjoyable
when relationships thrive.
…when I feel free, I am able to build in my own creative way.
Ninety of our ninety-six reviews on Google are five stars. 🤩

Behind every one of our 77+ 5-star reviews on Google is a team that loves working together to bring Masala Mandala to life.

The reviews highlight the taste of our food—and that makes sense, because how we feel while preparing and presenting it shines through in every bite.

One thing I’ve learned about creating something meaningful is the foundation matters: the people, their relationships, and the trust, ease, and
flow between them.

That’s what builds consistency, and that’s the only thing that can sustain something—literally—forever.

If you’re new here, welcome! I’m Jilna and this is Jian, my 13-year-old son. You’ll see him with me throughout this feed, and when you visit us, you’ll likely meet him.

For those who often wonder if he works or why he doesn’t go to school—yes, he helps right along with us, and no, he doesn’t attend a traditional school! :-). He is unschooled.

Unschooling means he doesn’t follow a traditional school schedule or a homeschool curriculum.

Every part of our day is a learning opportunity; from configuring our website, to learning about licenses, to sorting transactions... all the little
things that make this business possible.

Life and school are one, which means he’s involved in all aspects of life;
including building the vision for our Masala Mandala brand.

We welcome questions about it, so feel free to ask when you visit!

One thing we’ll always invest time in is shaping our space so it feels and looks right. It’s an intimate process of discovering how to work efficiently—both individually and as a team.

Erica, our graphic designer, put it beautifully when she said, “It’s not just about efficiency, but also about self-care. It’s about maintaining your mindset and your
space so you feel relaxed, creative, even healed… otherwise, you risk wearing yourself down and stressing yourself out with no escape.”
How true!

Jeera Chicken was a staple in our home when I was growing up in Kenya.
Still hits the same!
