Dear Squire Families and Friends,

We are excited to share that registration is open for Squire Academy for the 2026-2027 school year. Squire Academy is our after school program that provides remediation and acceleration to sixth, seventh, and eighth students in English Language Arts (ELA), Math, and Science.

Squire Academy will be held Monday through Thursday from 4:00 pm until 5:30 pm. Transportation will not be provided. Squire Academy will begin Monday, September 21, 2026.

If you would like to register your child for this program, please complete the registration form by 3:00 pm on Thursday, September 17th.

Remembering 9/11 Through Learning & Reflection

In Mrs. Wittig's ELA classes, our Squires honored September 11, 2001, through an engaging Patriot Day learning experience. Students explored the events of 9/11, discussed patriotism, unity, and resilience, examined informational texts, and reflected on how our nation and its citizens were changed.

Their learning culminated in a thoughtful quick-write reflection, giving students an opportunity to connect, process, and remember.

We remember. We reflect. We learn. We honor.

The Squire Standard in Action: Good. Better. Best!

This week in Mrs. Genete’s 6th Grade Math classes, our Squires explored the coordinate plane while strengthening their understanding of how coordinates can be used to represent mathematical ideas.

Working collaboratively, students followed directions to create, draw, and label the key components of the coordinate plane. They then put their learning into action using the large classroom coordinate plane to plot points, determine distances, and represent polygons.

From learning the fundamentals to applying their knowledge, our Squires demonstrated the power of collaboration, precision, and perseverance. They are continuing to move from Good → Better → Best! 📈📐

We are off to another exciting week for Sneed Athletics. Football opens the season tomorrow hosting the Falcons from Darlington Middle School. Volleyball is on the road to Hartsville Middle School. Be sure to grab your tickets early by visiting sneed.f1s.org/athletics.

📚 Building Strong Readers, Building Stronger Students! 📚

Strong literacy skills are the foundation for success across every subject area. When students develop a love of reading and strengthen their ability to comprehend, analyze, and communicate, they are better equipped to achieve academically and become confident, lifelong learners.

On Friday, Mrs. Wittig’s 6th Grade ELA classes enjoyed a special visit to our library thanks to the wonderful collaboration between Mr. McClam, our Librarian; Ms. Major, our Library Assistant; and Mrs. Wittig, our 6th Grade ELA Teacher! 💚⚔️

Mr. McClam and Ms. Major welcomed Mrs. Wittig’s ELA classes and made the library experience both engaging and meaningful. Mr. McClam provided each class with a tour, helped students find books that sparked their interests, and answered their many questions. During checkout, Mr. McClam and Ms. Major were there to assist students as they selected their books.

The excitement was contagious! 📖✨ Our students are beginning a reading challenge next week, and they were thrilled to explore the library, discover new books, and leave with something exciting to read.

A special thank you to Mr. McClam and Ms. Major for opening the doors to our library and helping our students discover that great readers become great learners!
