Mott Campus Clowns The Mott Campus Clowns are college students enrolled in a service learning course at Mott Community College.

The Campus Clowns hail from Mott Community College in Flint, MI. All clown troupe members are enrolled in HONS 251: Social Diversity and Civic Engagement. As a requirement for this experiential lab, students must complete 45 service learning hours at elementary schools, parades, community agencies and the Special Olympics. This October, the Campus Clowns introduced a school anti-bully program for K-3rd grade students. All clown appearances are directed by Brian Ivory, Honors Coordinator. Dr. Ivory (AKA Bubby the Clown) is a 1987 graduate of the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Clown College. The clown troupe is supported by Mott Community College and its Campus Life Enrichment Fund.

At Mooseburger Camp many years ago, I learned the proper technique for delivering and receiving a shaving cream pie. These techniques have since been passed on to Mott Campus Clowns, including the recipient saying: "Let Me Have It!". Last year we added a small twist to this first-of-May clown tradition... the delivering clown must give their "motive" which can be positive (gratitude for something the receiving clown has done) or negative (getting even for something they have done). Here are photos from last night's "Pie-In Potluck" gathering.

A BIG thank you to Tinkers, for the nine clown makeup designs she did for the new troupe members. Thank you to our returning clowns who came to teach our newest members how to apply grease paint for the very first time: HowDee, Blue Belle, MoonPie, Drifty, Jinx, and Binks. This is the first of two Makeup Sessions prior to their first shows on Friday, October 23rd. There will certainly be tweaks to these designs and new strategies for application - but these members of the 27th troupe are off to a great start. More "in-action" photos next time...
