Genesee County Human Trafficking Task Force

10/05/2026

🚨 Another great opportunity to educate and protect our teens!

Motivated by Faith, Inc. is hosting a Human Trafficking Awareness & Prevention Conference, and the Genesee County Human Trafficking Task Force will be there presenting on sextortion—a growing threat facing our youth online.

This conference is focused on helping teens and parents better understand the risks they face while navigating social media, apps, gaming platforms and rapidly changing AI technology.

The event will also feature a Human Trafficking Awareness & Prevention presentation from Homeland Security’s Blue Campaign, along with an opportunity to hear from an ATF agent and learn how different agencies and organizations play a role in combating trafficking and exploitation.

This won’t just be speakers and presentations! There will be interactive activities, guest speakers, vendors, learning and plenty of fun.

🍽️ Lunch will be provided.
🎁 Each child attending will receive a $25 gift card and additional gifts!

One parent or guardian may attend with their child or children.

This is a great opportunity to get our teens involved in the conversation. Awareness and prevention have to start before something happens.

🚨 If your child has a phone, plays online games, or uses social media—you need to pay attention to this.

We realize this is in Shiawassee County, but Predators have NO boundaries.

Predators don’t have to physically approach our kids anymore. They can reach them right inside our homes, through the devices we hand them every day.

The Digital Dilemma is about showing parents and those who work with kids what is actually happening online—grooming, sextortion, trafficking recruitment, po*******hy, AI/deepfakes, gaming, Discord and dangerous online communities.

And most importantly, what do you do when you find it on your child’s device?

🎬 **FREE COMMUNITY MOVIE NIGHT – *Ring of Silence*** 🎬
📍 *Open to the Public* | 🎟️ *No Cost to Attend* | 🔞 *PG-13*

📍 Life in Christ Church | Owosso, MI
🕕 Doors Open: 6:00 PM | 🎥 Movie Starts: 6:30 PM

We invite parents, caregivers, youth, educators, and community members to join us for a FREE screening of Ring of Silence—a powerful, film that sheds light on how youth are groomed and exploited into human trafficking**, often without even realizing what’s happening.

🕯️ What is *Ring of Silence* about?
This film follows the stories of young people who are drawn into exploitation through manipulation, false promises, peer pressure, and online grooming. It exposes the subtle tactics traffickers use and breaks down the myths of what trafficking “looks like,” showing how close to home it truly is.

👥 Why this matters for youth (PG-13):
✔️ Helps teens recognize **grooming behaviors and red flags**
✔️ Encourages **critical thinking and healthy conversations**
✔️ Empowers youth to **speak up, seek help, and protect themselves and others**
✔️ Reinforces that trafficking is not about bad choices—it’s about **deception and control**

🎤 Expert Panel Following the Film
After the screening, we will host a live expert panel featuring professionals in the field of human trafficking prevention, advocacy, and response—including a survivor with lived experience. This powerful discussion will:

* Provide real-world insight beyond the film
* Allow attendees to ask questions in a safe, respectful setting
* Help youth and adults understand **what to do, where to go, and how to help**

This is more than a movie—it’s an opportunity for **education, awareness, and prevention**, especially for young people navigating today’s digital and social pressures.

✨ Bring your teens. Invite a friend. Start the conversation.
Together, we can equip our youth with knowledge—because knowledge is protection.
