PRINCIPAL PREP WITH PRINCIPAL BURT 🎥

How many times have you ended a long day exhausted—but still wondering what you actually accomplished?

Leadership will keep you busy if you allow it.

Emails. Meetings. Interruptions. Problems. Requests.

But busy does not automatically mean productive.

Before the day takes control of your priorities, identify one thing that absolutely needs to move forward and protect time for it.

Your calendar should reflect your priorities—not just everyone else's emergencies.

Lead the day before the day leads you.

Good Morning! 🌅✨

Not every day will feel productive.

Not every win will be visible.

But that doesn’t mean you aren’t moving forward.

Stay committed to the work even when the results haven't shown up yet.

Keep going. Your consistency is doing more than you realize.

KEEP SHOWING UP.

The beginning gets a lot of attention.

New goals. New plans. New energy.

But what happens when the excitement wears off?

That’s where consistency matters.

As you step into this week, resist the urge to change direction simply because everything isn’t perfect yet.

Stay visible.
Keep communicating.
Follow through.
Reinforce expectations.
Celebrate the small wins.

Sometimes progress doesn’t require a new strategy. It requires consistency with the one you already started.

You don’t have to do everything today. But you do need to keep moving.

Protect your momentum.

Good Morning! ☀️☕

“You don’t have to make a big move every day. You just have to keep moving.”

Small steps. Consistent action. Continued progress.

Protect the momentum you worked hard to create.

You started strong.

You showed up with energy. You set expectations. You communicated the vision. You made commitments to yourself and your team.

Now comes the part that matters: Can you sustain it?

As leaders, sometimes we’re so focused on what’s next that we stop reinforcing what we just started.

Before you add another initiative, introduce another strategy, or change the plan, take a moment tonight and ask:

✓ What did I start that needs to continue?

✓ Where have I already become inconsistent?

✓ What does my team need to see me reinforce this week?

You don’t need to start over Monday morning.

You need to keep going.

This week, choose one expectation, system, or leadership habit that matters—and protect it.

Don’t lose the momentum.

Until next time… prepare with purpose and lead with confidence.

Good morning!

Tomorrow, the doors open.

The planning becomes practice.

The empty classrooms become filled with students.

And everything we've prepared for begins.

Today, don't focus on making tomorrow perfect.

Focus on making it welcoming.

Our students deserve to walk into schools where they know:

You belong here. We are glad you're here. And we're ready for you.

Have a blessed Sunday!

I didn't always know how to do this.

For a long time, the weekend before school started would have been another workday for me.

One more email.

One more thing to change.

One more trip to the building.

And if I'm being truthful, learning to step away is something I've only become intentional about more recently.

There will always be something else a leader can do.

I've had to learn that doesn't mean I always have to be the one doing it—or that it has to be done right now.

So yes, I'll make sure we're prepared.

But I'm also learning to give myself permission to enjoy my life outside of leadership.

Monday is coming whether I work all weekend or not. 😂

And I'd rather walk through those doors with energy, perspective, and excitement than already exhausted.

Principal Burt's Coaching Question

What can wait until Monday so you can give yourself permission to enjoy part of your weekend?

Good morning!

Monday will come.

There will be things to handle.

There will probably even be a few surprises.

Today, give yourself permission to breathe.

You've prepared.

You've planned.

You've led.

Now make room for yourself, too.

Have a peaceful Saturday!

We're almost there.

And if you're anything like me, you can probably still see 17 things that need to be done. 😂

That's leadership.

We naturally notice what's missing.

But before everyone leaves today, take a moment to acknowledge what's already been accomplished.

Your teachers have prepared.

Your support staff has worked.

Your leadership team has solved problems.

People have adjusted when plans changed.

Recognize that.

Sometimes leaders are so focused on the next task that we forget to stop and say:

“Thank you. I see your work. We're ready.”

That encouragement may be exactly what someone needs before Day One.
