The AAMA is announcing an important leadership transition effective August 1, 2026.

After 40 years of dedicated service as the AAMA CEO and legal counsel, Donald A. Balasa, JD, MBA, will transition to a full-time legal counsel role, where he will continue to provide guidance on the legal and regulatory issues affecting the medical assisting profession and the AAMA.

At the same time, Annie Storey, MS, CAE, will assume the role of chief staff executive while continuing to serve as executive director. With extensive experience in association leadership, membership services, and organizational development, Storey will lead the AAMA's operations and help guide the association's continued growth and success.

Please join us in thanking Balasa for his extraordinary years of service and supporting Storey as she steps into this role.
