Moms Demand Action - NJ

Today, the first Friday of June is observed as National Gun Violence Awareness Day or simply Wear Orange, and there is so much to do this weekend!!! In the weeks leading up to Wear Orange our volunteers are busy with local proclamations, event tabling, community activities, and educational opportunities all over New Jersey. There will be guest speakers, community resources, live music, giveaways and more. Come out, wear orange and gather together for healing, support, and hope.

We invite you to join NJ Moms Demand Action as we proudly march in Asbury Park for the annual New Jersey Pride parade! Together, we will stand with the LGBTQ+ community in our shared commitment to disarm hate -- building a future where everyone can live with dignity and without fear. The parade kicks off at noon the Asbury Park Municipal Center, and winds its way through town before ending in a celebration at Bradley Park. We’ll send a confirmation email with information about transportation, the Pride festival, and more. Join us as we raise our voices for unity and a world free from gun violence!

The Serenity Garden in Trenton was created for and by the community that has experienced pain caused by area violence. It is meant to be a place of beauty, peace and healing out of the ashes of sorrow.

Last weekend our volunteers from Mercer and beyond went out to the Serenity Garden to do some spring tidying and come together for fellowship and discussion of our goals.

Working in our communities to honor survivors is an integral part of what we do. We have many upcoming events all over the state and would love to have you be part of the Gun-Sense movement in New Jersey. Wear Orange is dedicated to honoring the lives of people in the United States affected by gun violence and elevating the voices of advocates across the country who are demanding an end to gun violence by taking action.

Wear Orange originated on June 2, 2015—what would have been Hadiya Pendleton’s 18th birthday. Today, Wear Orange honors Hadiya and the nearly 130 people shot and killed every day in the United States, along with the hundreds more who are wounded and the countless others whose lives have been changed by gun violence.

Together, we’ll honor every community impacted by America’s gun violence crisis during Wear Orange Weekend, June 5-7, 2026. There will be incredible events all throughout the state!
