🚧 ROAD CLOSURE – MONKTON ROAD FERRISBURGH

Monkton Road will be closed Wednesday October 7 and Thursday October 8 from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

📍 Closure: East side of Monkton Road, from Route 7 to South Middlebrook Road.

Please plan an alternate route and allow extra time for travel.

🚧 NOW HIRING – HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN 1 OR 2

The Town of Ferrisburgh is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Ferrisburgh Highway Department as a full-time Highway Maintenance Technician 1 or 2.

The Highway Department is responsible for maintaining approximately 80 miles of Town roads, including grading, ditching, road rebuilding, mowing, tree cutting, and winter plowing.

Qualifications & Requirements
Valid driver’s license with Class B CDL or higher
Heavy equipment experience preferred
Winter road maintenance experience preferred
Must reside within 30 minutes of the Town Garage
40-hour work week, four 10-hour days (6:00 AM–4:00 PM), Fridays off
Required overtime during the winter months
Ability to follow instructions and work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Ability to maintain vehicles and equipment
Pre-employment drug screening required

Don't forget! Next Friday, October 2nd, is the America 250th Trivia Night and Potluck at the Ferrisburgh Town Hall. Join us from 5:30 - 6:30 for a potluck dinner hosted by the Friends of the Union Meeting Hall, then stick around from 6:30 - 8:00 for a trivia tournament hosted by Rokeby Museum!

Join a team and compete for the grand prize: A copy of "A Very Fine Appearance": The Vermont Civil War Photographs of George Houghton, plus a one-year Household membership to the Vermont Historical Society! Second prize is two Vermont Historical Society mugs, and third prize is a Vermont Historical Society drawstring bag. Smaller prizes will be available for all participating teams; no one goes home empty-handed!

This event is FREE and accessible to the public. All ages are welcome. No need to bring something for the potluck, just yourself and your Vermont knowledge. Questions and prizes are provided by the Vermont Historical Society.

📬 Ferrisburgh voters — watch your mailbox!

The State of Vermont is mailing ballots to ALL active registered voters for the November 3 General Election. Ballots began mailing September 21, and you should receive yours by October 1.

Didn’t receive your ballot?
Contact the Ferrisburgh Town Clerk’s Office at 802-877-3429 or [email protected]. Replacement ballots are available and an affidavit will need to be signed to receive the replacement.

Don’t want to mail your voted ballot?
You can return it through the secure ballot drop box at the Town Offices, in person at the Town Clerk’s Office, or at the polls on Election Day.

Want to vote in person and use the tabulator?
Absolutely! Bring your mailed ballot to the polls, or bring your unvoted ballot and vote at the polls. You can then put your ballot through the tabulator yourself.

Throughout the month, Ferrisburgh’s town committees, boards, commissions, and Selectboard are inviting residents to attend a meeting, listen in, ask questions, and see what local government is really all about.

💰 BUDGET SEASON IS COMING!
Ever wondered where your town tax dollars go? Now is a great time to learn.
The Ferrisburgh Selectboard will soon be working through the municipal budget, including department requests, programs, services, capital needs, and community priorities.

Come to a Selectboard budget meeting and see the process firsthand. It's an opportunity to understand how decisions are discussed and how the priorities of the town become part of the proposed budget. Starting October 6th, Budget Meetings will be held on Tuesday evenings at 6:00pm with some just before the regular meeting that starts at 6:30pm.

You don't have to be an expert in municipal finance. Come listen, learn, and ask questions. 👀
