Dear friends,
David Caples has joined our hero Katie and we ask that you keep Susan and the family in your thoughts and prayers. David entered everlasting rest on Saturday, March 20, 2021 after a brief illness. His magnetic and dynamic presence will forever be in our hearts and his imprint is on so many who he mentored, cared for and loved. David made a huge, positive difference in the donation and transplant community. He led the Katie Caples Foundation with passion and a commitment to our cause inspiring people across the globe with his unwavering belief that lives could be saved once people knew how important it is to register as an organ, tissue and eye donor. The Katie Caples Foundation has received national recognition and numerous awards for its contribution to the organ donation-transplant communities. Included among its laurels are the 2015 National Donor Award for Excellence presented by the United Network for Organ Sharing, the 2015 Communicator Award of Distinction for Non-Profit Video Content presented by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts, the 2012 E. William Nash Jr. Community Partner of the Year Award presented annually by the YMCA Florida First Coast, the 2011 James S. Wolf M.D. Courage Award, presented annually by Donate Life America, and the 2005 President’s Volunteer Service Award, awarded as part of an initiative of the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation in Washington D.C. Please keep the Caples family and friends in your prayers. Fly high our hero your work here is done.
