Joe from the Center for Arkansas Farms and Food kicks off a miniseries on organic fertility management by explaining that the first step in a farm nutrition or fertilizer program is soil sampling to measure nutrients available in the soil. He demonstrates collecting multiple 6-inch-deep samples with a soil probe and bucket for a uniform sample, and emphasizes sampling when soil has moderate moisture and consistent conditions—often in the fall—to better represent summer growing conditions.

The workshop will be led by Dr. Molly Jensen, Teaching Associate Professor at the University of Arkansas. Dr. Jensen is returning as a guest speaker and is passionate about helping small business owners develop strong, authentic brands on limited budgets.
Participants will learn how to define their brand identity, craft messaging, understand their target market, select strong business and product names, and build a simple marketing plan.
