It was a packed house for Farmington School District’s Opening Day for staff and front and center were our cadets, posting the Colors to help kick off the school year. A special shout-out to our new Color Guard Commander, C/1st Lt Bryson Menteer, for putting the team together and making sure everyone was ready to go! He did a great job leading the team through their first color guard event of the year.

Our first volunteer event of the school year is in the books! Over the past two days, 11 cadets stepped up to help with our school’s Roll Call by guiding students around the building and sharing what Farmington AFJROTC has to offer. It was great seeing their energy, smiles, and positive attitudes! Looks like we’re off to a GREAT start!

Welcome back, Cadets! It's time for our first community service opportunities of the school year.

We're looking for volunteers to assist with the high school's Roll Call and Open House:

Roll Call:
Tuesday, August 11 from 10 am-7 pm (hours can vary)
Wednesday, August 12 - 10 am-7 pm (hours can vary)

Open House:
Thursday, August 20 - 6-8 pm

If you're interested in volunteering, (returning cadets) check your email, or go to your AFJROTC Drill & Ceremony Google Classroom folder / Community Service Form / and select the appropriate form.

Incoming (JROTC) FRESHMEN are welcome to volunteer for ROLL CALL only.

To volunteer for Open House, cadets must:
- Meet uniform and grooming standards
- Be familiar with the high school layout, including teacher locations and subject areas, so they can assist visitors.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to SMSgt Carrie Hinson at [email protected]. We can't wait to see everyone back and kick off another great year of serving our school and community!

Congratulations to Cadet Maya McKenney for being named the Department of Missouri Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW) Outstanding Cadet! At our annual JROTC Awards Ceremony in April, Maya received the SUVCW Award. We later learned she had also been nominated for the state-level Outstanding Cadet program. Out of 17 nominations submitted by JROTC programs across Missouri, Maya was selected as this year's recipient and awarded $300. Please join us in congratulating Maya on this outstanding achievement!

Way to go Maya! Keep up the good work!

Way to go Maya! Keep up the good work!

The Upward Bound Leadership Committee students raised $280 by selling snacks and drinks during lunch to donate to the MAC Food Pantry. Thank you to these student leaders for giving back and helping make a positive impact on our campus!

Congratulations to Colton Vinson and Chris Cooper for being selected to attend the American Legion Missouri Boys State 86th Session this past week at Lindenwood University!
Joining nearly 870 young men from across Missouri, they spent the week building leadership skills, learning about government and citizenship, meeting new friends, and making memories they'll never forget. They also had the chance to hear from some incredible speakers, including U.S. Senator Joe Manchin, Martin Luther King III, and former football player, entrepreneur, and leadership speaker Damon Dunn, among many other inspiring leaders. It was a week full of learning, leadership, and fun, and we're proud of both of them for earning this outstanding opportunity! A special thanks to Lepere-McCalister Post 416, American Legion, Farmington, MO for making this possible! 🇺🇸

It’s always fun running into our students out and about, especially during the summer. We recently caught 2026 graduate Brayden Diaz behind the drum set with his band Fame and Fortune performing at the Summer Nights Art Festival in downtown Farmington. This fall, Brayden is headed to Mizzou, where he’ll be joining Army ROTC and working toward becoming an Army officer. We’re proud of all he’s accomplished and can't wait to see what’s next!
