🏆 Way to go, 1st Grade! 🏆

In the Schneider Library, classes earn points each week for fantastic behavior expectations. Hit 20 points, and it’s reward time!

Last week,1st Grade made history as our first grade level this year where ALL three sections earned their 20 points! 🎉

They celebrated with some extra fun Free Choice Time—reading with stuffed reading buddies, tackling puzzles, and coloring. We are so proud of our respectful and hard-working readers! 📚🧩🎨

No cash? No problem! 💳✨

Did you know you can set up a cashless payment account for your student to use at the BRIJHS Fall Book Fair?

With Scholastic eWallet, you can set a spend limit, invite grandparents or family members to add funds, and ensure your reader doesn't lose cash in their backpack! Plus, any leftover funds stay safely in your account for future fairs or online shopping.

Raise your hand if you remember the magic of the Book Fair when you were in school! 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️

The smell of new paperbacks, picking out the coolest posters, gel pens, and bookmark erasers... it’s a core memory!

We are so excited to bring that exact same magic to our 4th–8th graders starting MONDAY, October 5th!

Share the tradition with your student by setting up an eWallet or visiting us during Parent-Teacher Conferences (Oct 6 & 7, 3:30–7:00 PM). Let’s pass down the love of reading! ❤️📖

7th graders explored this year's Rebecca Caudill Award nominees during library checkout today! 📚

Because this award is entirely nominated and voted on by Illinois students, it's always a big hit. After checking out short preview videos for each book, students grabbed the titles they were most excited to read.

📚 Book of the Week! 📚

Our 3rd graders are diving into the world of chapter books and exploring brand-new genres! 🌟

This week, we took a journey into Historical Fiction and kicked things off by reading the first chapter of Patricia MacLachlan’s Newbery Medal-winning classic, Sarah, Plain and Tall. 🌾

Ask your 3rd grader what they think will happen next, or what historical period they want to read about!

Set in the late nineteenth century and told from young Anna's point of view, Sarah, Plain and Tall tells the story of how Sarah Elisabeth Wheaton comes from Maine to the prairie to answer Papa's advertisement for a wife and mother. Before Sarah arrives, Anna and her younger brother Caleb wait and wonder. Will Sarah be nice? Will she sing? Will she stay?
