Welcome to the official Facebook home of Fargo Public School District #1 Fargo Public Schools (FPS) is a public school district in Fargo, North Dakota.

The District operates in three comprehensive high schools, three middle schools, sixteen elementary schools, a setting D day program, and a self-directed academy. FPS also operates an alternative high school and an early childhood education center for children with special needs. Student enrollment in FPS for the 2024-25 school year is approximately 11,200. North High School students recently visited the Hjemkomst Center to explore several exhibits connected to local history, culture, and innovation. Students learned about the important role food plays in community identity through Land to Table: Food Stories from Clay County. In Gadgets Galore! Transforming the American Household, students explored how industrialization changed everyday life in America. The visit also included Treasures from Norway, an exhibit honoring Norwegian immigrants who settled the region.

Congratulations to South High School Language Arts Teacher Rebecca Johnson, Horace Mann Elementary School Second Grade Teacher Casey McCallum, and Washington Elementary School Third Grade Teacher Denae Monson on earning certification as Catalyst Demonstration Teachers. There are now 16 Demonstration Teachers in the District and one paraeducator. This school year saw 158 Catalyst certifications in Fargo Public Schools.

Fargo Public Schools will hold its last day of classes Thursday, June 4. Summer break starts for students on Friday, June 5. Kennedy Elementary School fifth graders completed a project dedicated to local veterans during the week prior to Memorial Day. Each fifth grader designed an eagle feather that will be placed at the Fargo VFW in honor of the 250th anniversary of the United States. Veterans were invited to the school to see the project.

The Fargo Public Schools Human Capital Department wants to shine a spotlight on its valuable employees who have a tremendous positive impact on the District's students, staff, and families. The District's educators are crucial to achieving our goal of educating and empowering all students to succeed and are dedicated to the idea that we are stronger together. HC has selected FPS staff members who are deserving of greater recognition and will highlight them each week.

South High School students in Brittany Olson's forensic science class invited Lewis & Clark Elementary School fourth graders for a Forensics Day. The high schoolers led the elementary schoolers through stations educating them on different forensic techniques including tracking footprints, fingerprinting, and keeping track of evidence.

The Ben Franklin Middle School Science Olympiad Team competed at the Science Olympiad National Tournament from May 22-23 at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. The team finished 53rd at the national competition that featured teams from across the country.

Vanessa McNutt's second grade class at Eagles Elementary School practiced shopping. Over the past couple of months, the students have been working on counting money, exchanging items, and making change and they finally got to put those skills to use at Ms. McNutt's Classroom Store.

South High School celebrated two of its students as they announced their commitments to continue their academic careers in the education field. South seniors Alivia Pederson and Benita Mongar participated in a signing day, similar to an athlete signing a National Letter of Intent, to formally acknowledge their decisions. Pederson will be attending North Dakota State University for elementary education and Mongar will be attending Minnesota State University Moorhead for elementary education.

Fargo Public Schools is committed to developing and inspiring future educators through its Education Pathway. The pathway offers a variety of courses, several of which provide dual credit opportunities, including Child Development, Child Care Careers, Intro to Education, Teaching Field Experience, Peer to Peer 1, and Peer to Peer 2 (Education of Exceptional Students).
