Recently, our dairy barn crew and farm shop team worked to cover the freshly chopped corn silage pile at the dairy unit before the impending rain. Just as they started, a weather front moved through blowing the plastic layers and adding additional struggle to an already physical and hard job.

After some fantastic teamwork and use of body weight to hold down the edges, the job was completed and the feed can ferment and be used all winter long to feed the cows that call our dairy home. Way to go and the cows thank you for your hard work!!

Last night our department had its big welcome activity for the students: the Ag Olympics! Students got to play games, learn about various clubs, eat, and compete in the human foosball tournament.

When our students go above and beyond to ensure the team is well suited for learning with animals….

My name is Natalie P and I am a P2 in the NDSU vet tech program. This year I decided to start a free scrub closet for P1s and P2s in our program, so everyone has access to nice, gently used scrubs. We have brands like Figs, Carhartt, Sketchers, Greys Anatomy, and Whitecross. Colors range depending on sizes, and we have some patterned tops too. Our sizes include XS through XL. (when taking scrubs, please leave the hangers on the rack so we can reuse them)

In order to keep this scrub closet going for the year, and future, we also need donations. If you have very gently used scrubs that don't fit anymore or you just don't use, please donate them to the closet.
**Public donations can be dropped off at Robinson Hall M-F between 8 AM-4:30 PM.**

Congratulations to Dani Jensen, assistant manager of the NDSU Beef Cattle Research Complex, on receiving the Core Values Award!

Presented by NDSU Sheep Unit Manager Steph Puro, this award recognizes Dani's outstanding dedication, versatility and willingness to step in wherever she's needed. Whether she's managing research cattle, mentoring student employees, assisting other livestock units or tackling long days in the sheep barn, Dani consistently goes above and beyond to support the entire farm team.

Thank you, Dani, for your positive attitude, commitment to learning and unwavering support of NDSU Agriculture. We're grateful to have you on our team!

Faculty, staff, and students from the NDSU Animal Sciences Department helped prepare and serve lunch to roughly 1,500 military personnel and their families during Military Appreciation Day at the North Dakota State Fair in Minot on July 21. We have teamed up with the ND Stockmen’s Association and the ND Beef Commission to sponsor this event for the past 21 years. Those who represented NDSU were Jacob Arntzen, Jason Bahls, Eric Berg, Ariana Brewer, Josh Braxton, Charles Bunker, Chutikun Kanjanaruch, Andee Sellers, Katie Windt and many Animal Sciences alumni. It was our pleasure to serve those who currently (and formerly) serve our country and the families that support them.

NDSU Bison Strides is hosting Horse Powered Reading Camps Aug. 17–20 for youth ages 5–12. Participants will groom and lead horses, create obstacle courses and strengthen their reading skills through hands-on, horse-centered activities in a fun and supportive environment.
