My youngest woodworker is 2 1/2 and uses drill and saw and she loves it. I bet your kid would love it too. Don't make them wait, teach them.

Think of it as a more strategic twist on Connect 4—easy to learn, quick to play, and surprisingly challenging. Kids love it, and busy parents do too!

Come build a game you’ll want to play again and again. 🎲

🗜️ Let’s talk CLAMPS!

Most kids—and honestly, plenty of adults!—know what a clamp is… but don’t always see how to use one correctly.

I teach my students to think of a clamp like a "sandwich": 🥪 the pieces of wood go in the middle, and the clamp squeezes them together from both sides.

Before we drill, saw, or assemble, we ask: “Is my wood moving?”If the answer is yes, we clamp it!

Learning where and how to clamp is such a simple skill, but it makes woodworking safer, steadier, and so much easier.

Clamp it. Check it. Then build it. 🔨

I'm not anti-sports. My own kids play.

But when your family calendar is wall-to-wall practices, games, and tournaments, something quieter gets crowded out: the space to sit with a problem, work through frustration, and finish something with their own two hands.

The kids who walk into our studio and immediately know how to hold a tool, follow multi-step instructions, and recover from a mistake? They're the ones whose parents also carve out time for building, fixing, and making at home.

Confidence doesn't just come from scoring goals. It comes from looking at something you made and thinking, "I did that."

You don't need to quit soccer. You just need to add 30 minutes on a Sunday afternoon with a any craft.
What's one hands-on project you could tackle with your kid this month?

One day, my 12-year-old daughter came to me and said:

“Mom, I want a bigger bed." 😅

So I said, Well… you can build one.”

And she did. ❤️

She designed it herself.
She measured.
She figured it out.
She used a miter saw, a drill, and a nail gun.

And two days later…

She was sleeping in a bed SHE had built. 🛏️🔨

Was it perfect? Nope.
Did she make mistakes? Absolutely.
Did she learn more from building that bed than she ever could from me simply telling her how to do it?

100%.

That moment stayed with me.

Because woodworking isn't just about making something out of wood.

It's about learning to look at a problem and think:

👉 How can I solve this?
👉 What if I try this?
👉 Oops… that didn't work. Let me try again.
👉 Wait… I DID IT!

And that is exactly why I love teaching kids to build.

I don't want them to leave Studio Artisane thinking, “I'm good at woodworking.”

I want them to leave thinking:

“I can figure things out.” 💪

And honestly… that's a skill that will follow them everywhere.

A bientôt.

There's no secret.

No magic curriculum, no proprietary method, no special certification.

Just three things I refuse to compromise on:

1. Real tools from day one even for a 3 years old. Not toy versions, not plastic replicas. If it's a drill, it's the same one I use in my own workshop. Kids know the difference, and so does their confidence.

2. Real projects that matter. We're not making decorative keychains. We're building stools they'll stand on, boxes they'll keep, shelves their parents will actually mount. When they say "I built that" I want them pointing at something they use.

3. Real problem solving, not step-by-step copying. I show them how to read plans, how to measure twice, how to fix a mistake without starting over. That's where resilience lives, in the moment when something goes wrong and they figure it out anyway.

That's it.

No instagram-worthy aesthetic, no pinterest-perfect outcomes, no guarantees that every project turns out flawless.

Just kids using real tools to build real things and discovering they're capable of way more than they thought.

That confidence? It doesn't come from a secret. It comes from doing hard things and watching yourself succeed.

A bientôt.

If you've been thinking about fall programming, this is your moment.

We're opening doors to three incredible pathways for kids who are ready to build real things with real tools:

• Build a story , where kids craft props for their favorite characters, then bring them to life with woodworking and storytelling combined (ages 3-5)

• after school woodworking , weekly sessions where your child progressively masters every tool in the shop, building confidence and skill week after week (ages 8-12)

• woodturning , hands-on lathe work creating bowls, pens, and turned pieces that will make them say I built that (ages 10+)
Week end classes

each program is designed with safety first, guided instruction every step of the way, and a clear progression that builds both practical skills and resilience.

Your kid isn't too young. They're not too inexperienced. They just need the right environment and the right guidance.

These aren't passive activities. This is the kind of learning that sticks because they're solving real problems, using their hands, and walking out with something they made themselves.

At Studio Artisane, children ages 4–7 work beside Sandrine to make something with their own hands: learning to measure, learning safe tools, practicing focus, and building confidence one step at a time.

Small groups. Patient guidance. Real skills.

By the end, they don’t just leave with a finished piece — they leave proud of what they made themselves.
