About Us

For the past 9 years, Darnell Andrews has been practicing the art of Muay Thai and earned his black parajiad under Khun Kru Nakapan Phungephorn of BETA Academy in Washington, DC. After competing in multiple Muay Thai fights himself, he shifted his focus towards coaching. Since discovering this passion for coaching, Darnell dedicated 8 of the last 9 years to consistently perfecting his craft. Through USA Boxing, he earned his Coaching Certification and SafeSport Certification, which demonstrate his deep understanding of competition rules, regulations, and safety standards. Darnell is consistently asked to return to coach fighters at charity competitions like Haymakers for Hope. With BETA Academy, he contributes to team efforts in coaching fighters who win multiple belts and titles at competitions all across the United States, such as TCB, Cagezilla, IKF, TBA, and Lion Fight. Additionally, Darnell consistently attends seminars held by professional fighters such as Danny Bill, Lerdsila Chumpairtour, and Grandmaster Chai Sirisute to keep both his fighting and coaching skills sharp. Darnell’s multifaceted approach to perfecting his craft gives new meaning to the term coach. Prioritizing his own growth as a coach allows Darnell to cultivate improvement in his students by guiding them in a highly knowledgeable, technical, and specialized manner.

Darnell brings this professionalism and depth of knowledge to each student with whom he works. He coaches Muay Thai to people of all skill levels and for various reasons, including competition preparation, fitness, self-defense, and beginner’s curiosity. Darnell is thankful to all those martial artists who molded his skills so that he may continue the tradition for others. The mission of D. Andrews Thai Boxing shadows Darnell’s own passion for the sport; we aim to better the community through outstanding coaching, sharing the values of martial arts, and dedicating ourselves to the personal growth of all of our students!
