This past Saturday, I participated in a Youth Entrepreneur Summit (Y.E.S). hosted by the East St. Louis Alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority, Inc. I enjoyed interacting with the youth and other entrepreneurs as well as sharing my stories of overcoming adversity, building long-lasting networks and relationships, and the need to focus on the mental challenges on the path to building generational wealth. There were some amazing people in the room and eager minds yearning for knowledge.

How difficult is budgeting for you? What are the mental and emotional blocks affecting your finances? Gaining control of your personal finances as is effective as working a second job when you identify potential areas for saving and investing. Research shows budgeting improves decision making and critical thinking. As an effort to address racial-wealth disparity gaps, I created an online course "Money Management" that shows factors that affect you from reaching your financial goals, and developing a long-term strategy to influence generational wealth.

Today’s Monday Motivation is about introspective and reflection. We all make mistakes whether it is in our personal and professional lives. It is from these mistakes and the desire to learn from them is how we can minimize against future mistakes which helps increase our chances for success. Whether it is risk management or personal relationships, our growth is predicated on learning from our mistakes. My journey has met many obstacles, but I still strive to be better than my past week after week.
