New prop jars! 🌱 Got all these cute vessels from garage sales, thrift stores, and on Facebook marketplace!

Important notes:
🔍 make sure to monitor them if you keep them in direct sun to avoid the magnifying glass effect.

💧 Use distilled or rain water for rooting cuttings, tap water can be a bit aggressive on cuttings trying to root.

🧽 clean the glasses thoroughly before introducing the plants

🌱 Watch out for mold and refresh water as needed

Say hi to my unnamed pet slug! 🐌💛

This was the very first terrarium I made this year before I decided to start my small business. I have noticed some slugs that have been sliming around in this one, and while I could have tried harder to remove them, I’ve decided not to. 😆

This terrarium has sentimental value to me and isn’t for sale, so I’ve decided to let the slugs stay and keep them as pets instead. I’ve also been feeding them snacks!

Just a reminder ⚠️⚠️⚠️ Slugs WILL eat your terrarium plants. I do recommend removing them unless you are okay with babysitting your terrarium, keeping them as pets, or dont mind changes in a terrariums aesthetic appearance.

Before I sell my terrariums, I bake the wood, rinse my mosses, and keep them for 3-4 weeks to ensure they are slug free as well as fully acclimated. For those of you who end up finding slugs and want to get rid of them, you can set vegetable traps to catch and release them. Most of the time the chances of finding a slug are pretty low with the acclimation precautions I do.

It's much easier to overwater a terrarium compared to under watering. 🌧️

Balancing moisture levels so you can avoid over saturating the plants and still view the beautiful landscape inside can be tricky. A good general rule of thumb is that your terrarium should condensate a couple times a day (usually in the morning and evening) and then be clear and visible during the day.

Smaller terrariums can be aired out for a couple hours while larger terrariums/clay wall terrariums can be open for a day or two. I typically trial and error this by repeating the process and seeing if I get the desired moisture level after. This also depends on the level of saturation as well, i.e you don't want any soupiness in the gravel or soil layers.

fogginess isn't always a big deal, some terrariums do just fine completely sealed and foggy all the time. But it also can increase chances that mold or fungi will proliferate so its good to keep an eye out.

I wasnt able to get close enough to take a photo of the bees since I didnt want to disturb the nest. My hunch is that this may be a colony of digger bees (Anthophora)?

If anyone has any idea what species these bees are, drop it in the comments!! My main observations were that they were too large to be sweat bees, too small to be carpenter or bumble bees, very similar in size to a honey bee, they had fuzzy/furry hairs, round bodies, and cooler toned colors unlike the bold colors you'd see on a wasp. They were all going into the same exact entry point in the soil.
