The first day of school is around the corner! We are pleased to invite families to a special webinar on Wednesday, August 12, from 7:00–8:00 p.m. featuring Dr. Jared Cooney Horvath, a leading cognitive neuroscientist and author of The Digital Delusion.

Dr. Horvath will share the latest research on how screens impact learning and brain development, what it means for children and families, and the steps being taken in Connecticut to reduce distractions in the classroom.

Join the Fairfield Police Department on Tuesday, August 4, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sherman Green and Reef Road for a free, family-friendly evening focused on community, safety, and fun.

The event will include:

- Bike obstacle course
- Bike safety talk
- Free child identification kits
- Face painting
- Balloon animals
- DJ
- Dunk Tank
- Food trucks
- Community organization tables
- Kids activities
- Activity Passport prize drawing
- K9 demonstration
- Flagman Safety demonstration
- Fire Department equipment demonstration

Yale New Haven Health will also be giving away helmets at the bike obstacle course, and Hartford HealthCare will be handing out Car Buddy magnets to help promote child safety.

Registration for High School Fall 2026 athletics is open! The first official day of tryouts for most sports will be August 24, 2026 with a few exceptions. Sport-specific tryout information is posted on each school’s athletic website as the date approaches.

The Fairfield Police Department invites Fairfield Public Schools families to attend Fairfield's first National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sherman Green and Reef Road.

This FREE, family-friendly event is a wonderful opportunity to connect with the people and organizations that help keep our community safe. Families will have the chance to meet Fairfield police officers, firefighters, emergency responders, town departments, local businesses, and community organizations while enjoying an evening of fun for all ages.

The event will feature:
Touch A Truck with public safety vehicles
A K9 demonstration
Food trucks
Kid-friendly activities
Community resource booths
Raffle prizes and giveaways

National Night Out is designed to strengthen the relationship between first responders and the community while celebrating the partnerships that make Fairfield such a special place to live, learn, and grow.

Governor Ned Lamont joined State Representatives Sarah Keitt, Jennifer Leeper, Cristin McCarthy Vahey, First Selectperson Christine Vitale, Superintendent Michael J. Testani, Board of Education members, and local officials at Dwight Elementary School to celebrate the 75% state reimbursement approved for the Dwight Elementary School rebuild. Fairfield Public Schools is grateful for this significant investment, which will benefit not only Dwight students and staff, but the entire district. The project will help create a modern learning environment that will serve Fairfield students for generations to come. Thank you to the families and community members whose advocacy helped make this possible.

Congratulations to Mill Hill School on being designated a No Place for Hate school for the 2025-2026 school year. Under the guidance of Mrs. Soares and student leaders, the school community earned this distinction in its first year participating in the program, demonstrating a commitment to building a welcoming and inclusive school community.
