UAF Society of Physics Students Our club is for any UAF student interested in or studying the field of physics. Meetings are held Th We are the UAF chapter of the Society of Physics Students.

The Society of Physics Students, or SPS, is a national organization for undergraduate students interested in physics. Our club is one of only two chapters in Alaska and we try to make up for it by doing lots of physics and science related community outreach. Every year our club helps judge many of the elementary and middle school science fairs to help encourage a love of science. We also set up se

veral physics demo stands at UAF’s annual Science Potpourri to show how cool physics can be. In the spring of 2016 we held our first ever star-gazing party open to the public and it ended up being a huge hit. This has now become an annual event. In addition to community outreach our club is also dedicated to transforming physics students into high functioning and productive members of society. We help sponsor educational trips for undergraduates as well as provide research and project opportunites through the UAF Physics Department.
