With three individual NCAA national champions and over 15 NCAA All Americans in the past seven seasons, the University of Alaska Fairbanks has established itself as one of the top Nordic ski programs in the country. ska Fairbanks is an NCAA D-II institution with scholarships for both skiing and running. The Nanooks compete in the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association and the Great Northwest Athletic Conference for running. A long season of snow (mid October through the end of April) and low altitude make Fairbanks an ideal location for elite cross country skiers to train and study. The University boasts excellent programs in a wide variety of subjects including engineering, natural resource management, fisheries, biology, business and art.
