We are so excited to see Wapsie Valley Warriors back for the first day of school tomorrow! But in the meantime, we would like to introduce the officer who keeps everyone on their toes and doesn’t like to take things too seriously.

Wapsie Valley FFA had a great and very rainy first week at the 2026 Iowa State Fair!

Sydney Matthias kicked things off in the Purebred Market Swine Show on Thursday. Sydney exhibited in the Chester White class, earning a blue ribbon, and the Tamworth class, where she placed 8th and also earned a blue ribbon.

On Friday, Andrew Matthias and Sydney Matthias exhibited in the Crossbred Market Swine Show.

Andrew Matthias exhibited in Division 6, Class 4, where he was named Reserve Class Champion and earned a purple ribbon!

Sydney Matthias exhibited in Division 1, Class 3, placing 3rd and earning a purple ribbon. She also exhibited in Division 4, Class 4, where she was named Reserve Champion of the Class and earned another purple ribbon!

We are also proud of Brinley Schellhorn, who is serving as a FFA Grandstand Usher for the entirety of the State Fair! Brinley assists during Grandstand and Free Stage events by helping fair patrons with directions and answering questions.

Congratulations to Sydney and Andrew on their accomplishments, and thank you to Brinley for representing Wapsie Valley FFA at the Iowa State Fair! We are proud of all of you!

Congratulations to Wapsie Valley FFA member, Mae Wedemeier, on being crowned Iowa Dairy Princess Alternate!

And the new Iowa Dairy Princess and Princess Alternate have been crowned! 👑

Hannah Hagen, an 18-year-old from Waterville, was crowned the 73rd Iowa Dairy Princess during an evening ceremony at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines on Wednesday, August 12. Hannah, daughter of Erik and Lisa Hagen, will spend the year serving as a goodwill ambassador for Iowa’s dairy farmers.

Mae Wedemeier, 18, of Maynard, was named Iowa Dairy Princess Alternate. Mae, the daughter of Scott and Catherine Wedemeier, will share duties with the princess.

Easton Diers earned all blue ribbons and placed 4th in the Dairy Steer Class.

Congratulations to our Wapsie Valley FFA exhibitors on a great day at the 2026 Fayette County Dairy Show!

Mae Wedemeier earned all blue ribbons, placing:
4th in the Brown Swiss Summer Yearling Class
6th in the Junior Holstein Class
6th in the Senior Holstein Calf Class

Evan Wedemeier also earned all blue ribbons, placing:
2nd in the Junior Brown Swiss Class
5th in the Holstein Summer Yearling Class
