Opportunity for public art if anyone is interested—

This summer's reading book, Hey Kiddo, is a graphic novel by Jarrett J. Krosoczka. The school thought it would be really special to have some chalk drawings of lions reading the book for Academic Welcome Day when we have the keynote address by the author and the discussions of the book. 

2 students are needed to draw these chalk images on August 27-28. Participating students will be compensated!

Participating students will also be able to meet Jarrett on August 29th. This is an excellent networking opportunity, and the work will be exposed to media coverage.

Meet Senior Fine Arts major, Jayln Giles-Ewell.

Jayln is a graduating fine arts senior as well as a New Jersey-based multimedia artist. They write of their practice, “Most of my recent works have been in oil, however I also do traditional illustration & digital illustration. My framework of art is mostly centered around my experience as a Black woman, as well as all that may entail through an artistic medium. I also have involvement on our campus as both a peer educator and an e-committee member of our NAACP chapter, and I wish to further pursue a position as a licensed counselor who also utilizes art therapy within their practice.”

Meet Senior Fine Arts major, Samantha Leigh Kearney.

Samantha will be graduating from TCNJ this May with a bachelor’s of fine arts. She writes, “Much of my work relates around this concept of ‘where I’ve been.’ It is something I started two or three years ago after finding that the common thread in most of my work was me. I look back at my experiences as well as the people in my life and those who I did not have. I look to the things I have done and the things I want to do and create work that is reflective of these things.”

Meet Senior Fine Arts major, Stephanie Rosenthal.

Stephanie Rosenthal is a New Jersey-based mixed media artist. She has recently acquired a degree from The College of New Jersey with a Bachelor’s of Fine Art along with a marketing minor. Rosenthal primarily works with 2D media and has recently begun to incorporate installation into her practice. Her subject matters pertain to prominent and transformative elements in life that collate to form a personal identity. The artist has expressed that her work can be a whole range of things from family to home or religion, but recently she has been more drawn to topics pertaining to the body and her relationship with it. Rosenthal is fortunate to have a job in digital cartography lined up for her when she graduates, but she is actually most looking forward to travelling again.The artist has expressed that she enjoys seeking meaning and inspiration from the world around her. She has a few travel destinations in mind, and if she is lucky, she will find her next step in her artistic career along the way.

Meet Senior Fine Arts major, Sarah Valente.

Sarah Valente is a graduate of The College of New Jersey with a BFA in Studio Art and a minor in Graphic Design. She currently resides in Wayne, New Jersey. She is a painter/sculptor looking to work in installation and expand on her experience as an artist assistant. Valente’s work is an exploration of materiality in her reflection of uncanny and abject themes as they relate to the body. As far as her future, there are many things that she wishes to do. She will continue her practice, but she wants to be an artist assistant, and also learn about furniture design, most specifically chair design.

Meet Senior Fine Arts major, Halle Luttrell.

Halle Luttrell has spent her undergraduate education studying Fine Arts with a minor in Art History. She specializes in oil painting, however she continues to develop her education in every area of art making. Her goals for her career are to curate for an art museum, and to teach on a college level. Her work is strongly connected to her own experiences as a woman and an artist, as well as personal connections to people in her life. She is currently based in Bergen County, New Jersey and has plans to attend graduate school in the fall to pursue a master’s degree at Rutgers University in Art History and Museum Studies, as well as continue her exploration of oil painting on the side.

Introducing in•flux: The BFA Senior Fine Art and Photography/Video Thesis Exhibition

A state of constant change, an everlasting creative flow. 13 emerging artists explore what’s in their periphery, absorb and transform the world around them, each on their own journey navigating the here and now. What is it like to see through their eyes, how their converging identities construct their realities? On the verge of self-discovery, these artists push boundaries, shift perspectives and adapt to an ever-changing culture. Through immersive installation, sculpture, painting, photography, printmaking and multimedia, each of the artists presents an introspective experience that not only reflects the development within themselves, but celebrates all that leads up to an evolving breakthrough.
