This summer, The College of New Jersey Campus Construction and our dedicated IT team were hard at work transforming Forcina Hall. We are thrilled to announce the completion of three brand-new, state-of-the-art computer labs for the Computer Science Department! This includes reimagined spaces, new furniture, upgraded computers, and improved network infrastructure.

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has observed threat actors taking advantage of the CrowdStrike incident for phishing and other malicious activity.

We would like to ask everyone to remain vigilant and only follow instructions from legitimate TCNJ websites.

Neither CrowdStrike nor Microsoft will contact you directly about this event. Be suspicious of any calls or messages from unknown senders. If someone calls asking for sensitive information such as passwords, Duo codes, or other verification codes hang up immediately. Never submit passwords to Google forms or other websites that are not official TCNJ login pages.

TCNJ Information Technology has researched the latest “out-of-the-box” laptops being sold by retailers and created a document (attached to this article) that provides recommendations that you can use when shopping for a laptop.

These configurations were selected to ensure that students have the necessary computing power to use the applications that may be required of the general curriculum and various graduate program courses

We’ve created a MINIMUM and a RECOMMENDED requirements section in this document:

MINIMUM : Created to help those that were looking to bring the laptop they already own and know if it would meet the needs of their classes.

RECOMMENDED: Created for those looking to purchase a new laptop that will be able to perform throughout their time on campus

*A general recommendation, regardless of major, is that having a Chromebook as your primary computer is not advised for students, as they do not have the necessary processing power to run certain programs that may be required in college courses.

There are a few Schools/majors that have specific computing requirements, for example the School of Arts and Communications and School of Engineering based on software requirements.

For those graduating there are a few IT related matters we recommend that you review of as your time at TCNJ comes to a close.

IT has created a checklist that you can follow to ensure that your transition to an Alumni is as seamless as possible.

As an Alumni, you will retain access to your TCNJ Google Workspace account (i.e., Gmail, Calendar, Contacts, etc), however, this does not include Google Drive access. Once designated as an alumni by the Office of Records and Registration, you will receive an automated email indicating that you will have 90 days to download or transfer your existing TCNJ Google Drive storage.

Congratulations Ria!!

MTSS would like to congratulate Ria Patel for her induction into the Blue and Gold Hall of Fame!

In addition to her exemplary leadership as MTSS Student Manager, Ria serves as the Vice President for the Tri Beta Biology Honors Society at TCNJ, a Peer Mentor for the American Medical Student Association, and Tech Chair for Jersey Jalwa, just to name a few of her roles.

Ria’s impact extends to the surrounding community as well. She pioneered a community service project that involved creating and sending health kits to a local nonprofit, Jersey Care, which was so successful that it has continued and grown in subsequent years. In addition to her extensive involvement, Ria is extremely dedicated to her pre-medical education and is pursuing her dream of working in Hematology and Oncology. A common thread can be seen through all of Ria’s interests: supporting others.

We are so proud of and celebrate with Ria for her many accomplishments! Congratulations!
