We're celebrating Chicago Pride Fest in true Northwestern-style!! 🏳️🌈 Pride Month, rooted originally in protest, is a special and specific time when we come together to honor the many contributions made by the LGBTQIA+ community and acknowledge the work that lies ahead.
This year while we celebrate, we must also keep the inextinguishable flame of protest burning and put a microscope on the systems that work against LGBTQIA+ people.

"The resources and access to opportunity that Northwestern University provided me during my time there were beyond what I could have imagined. Having come from small-town, southern Indiana, I did not realize how resources like Northwestern Research funding and student organization support would make my college experience that much more robust." -Layne H. At Northwestern University, we believe that diversity—of background, identity, belief, interest, expertise—is essential to undergraduate learning and to a healthy society, and we are committed to ensuring students from rural areas and small towns are well represented in our community. May is Asian, Pacific Islander, and Desi American (APIDA) Heritage Month, and we are highlighting some identity-based student organizations at NU! Pictured above are members from the Asian Pacific American Coalition at Northwestern University which is a sociopolitical group that provides a space for students who identify as Asian American and Pacific Islander to connect, learn, organize, and ultimately resist systems of domination.
APAC’s Mission Statement: “We recognize that our liberation must be collective because of the interconnected nature of oppressive power structures. From our unique position as similarly racialized peoples, we build community and raise awareness of historical, social, and political issues that affect all marginalized communities through collective learning, building support systems, educational and advocacy-based programming, and coalition-building.”
