My students at Glenbrook North had their year end voice recital last week. I am always so floored by the leaps and bounds they make, not just in vocal technique. More importantly, they inhabit the songs, they open their hearts, and then communicate to a room full of peers and parents, which is the hardest crowd in the world. I think we are in great hands with these kids, no matter all the negative press they get. They are warriors.

This is why I have my students practice their entrances. I had a director once have me pretend to enter for an audition 20 times in a row. It made such a difference in my thinking about my relationship with my audience, so now I make everyone do it!
