A dark folk opera shelved by COVID-19 gets a fresh premiere, courtesy of Northwestern students Missy Mazzoli and Royce Vavrek’s chamber opera “Proving Up” is set on the Nebraska frontier, but it takes aim at the hollow core of the American dream.

Bienen alumna Michelle Mariposa wins Metropolitan Opera Competition Alumna Michelle Mariposa ’23 MMus has been named a winner of the Metropolitan Opera Eric and Dominique Laffont Competition.
