The new post lays out a simple planning process from book selection to formulating an 8 day plan. This plan can be modified for almost any book or piece of good literature you are studying.

Note: Karen actually taught this 8 day unit to fourth graders as they read the book. It was magical. The final performance pieces were done with beauty, grace, and intelligence. The students expressed the following comments:

“I have never felt a book before.”
“I see why words have to be picked with care when we write. Words were important.”
“Books are like movies.”
“Why doesn’t everyone do this with books? – it was fun.”

New blog post on FRAMEWORKS - an arts integration tool! Read the full post with frame type examples: onestopdramashop.com/blog-posts/thinking-about-drama-integration-frameworks/

Think of the frame of a house. The frame is invisible but it holds the house together. If we think of content from two or more subjects joining together in one constructed lesson or unit, then we need a FRAME to complete the task.
