When I walk, there's no question our natural world is an incredible creation and we're blessed to witness and live within its magnificence. Yet, it surprises me to realize there's days I walk through it without even seeing it. My mind may be on a particular challenge with business or a personal matter and sometimes I take the break in my day to reach out to someone over the phone. Then I realize that I’ve checked out of being present.
It’s these signals we miss when we’re not living an intentional life and when this happens, it decrease life's flavor! Have you ever had coffee that was weak and watery because the filter fell over in the process? Grounds get in the pot and even if we pour it back through the filter basket, it isn’t the same.
There's a life lesson: There really aren’t any do-overs. This life is ours, good, bad, or ugly. Thankfully, we are able to adjust our mindset and thus adjust our lives. Eat better, feel better. Work harder, have more. Love intentionally, receive an intentional love, count our blessings, and be happier.
I received another lesson from the forest this week too. It was a precious one. My husband filled a little bud vase, I had brought home from a thrift store, with bright yellow dandelions. It was so sweet! However, that night I noticed they had all died. For some reason I left them in the vase and didn’t toss them. The next morning, I noticed most of them were opening again. I kept an eye on them that morning and witnessed these seemingly dead flowers bloom again. It’s been 3 days and I’ve seen it happen again and again. How cool! Dandelions go to sleep at night! Just as we shut down and begin our lives again each day, these precious things do too.
This is a beautiful reminder for us to renew our lives daily, pay attention to what's around us, how we treat our bodies, and the people around us. And to count our blessings and realize each day is an opportunity to open up, bloom, and turn our hearts & lives toward the light.
We can be so stuck in our ways can't we? Let’s decide to bloom again like this little flower.
