Photo Fix is a generic term that describes what can be done to a photo. From a Simple Color Correction to a Major Restoration -- a wide range of corrections, retouches, enhancements are shown below.

As a Military Brat, photos were the one way we kept our relatives and events in our memories. 🚙Moving every 14-24 months it can be hard to remember what happened where, so the photos really helped! 🚕

Faded and damaged photos, whether my own or belonging to clients, just make me so sad, and I feel so happy when I am able to bring a photo "back to life"! The joy I see on their face when they see their "fixed" photo makes me love what I do even more!

🇺🇸In Honor, and thanks, to the Veteran's and Active Duty personnel in our lives, I am offering 50% off of Digital Photo Fix and Digital Collage services! At least one photo must have at least one person in uniform!

📸 What is your favorite photo -- or photos? I hope they bring you fun memories and a joyful heart!

One of my most beloved photo is my mom and dad on their wedding day in front of their cake. My mom loved the color lavender and it was in her dress, so of course I added a touch of color to the photo (shown below in the ad) to make it more memorable and interesting!

If your favorite photo(s) needs some TLC, and / or you would like more info about my services or my specials, please contact me and we can set up a time to chat.

Were you or a family in the military? What memories do you have? Do you love looking at the photos?

I have always loved photos … and remember flipping thru our photo albums and loose photos every few years growing up.

I have photos of my husband and kids on my refrigerator, and I have photos hanging on our walls!

My family has a history of being a part of the US Armed Forces: ROTC, US Army, US Air Force, and the US Marine Corps. And I was raised as a military brat, and in 18 years I lived in 13 cities, 10 of them “unique”, meaning, I only lived there one time!

I have stood at attention during morning reveille & evening retreat, I have attended military parades ; I have helped my Dad “spit shine” his boots and dress shoes, and I’ve ironed his fatigues. I have helped my mom with promotion parties and Officer Wives Luncheons.

I did get the great privilege to live in Hawaii (1st grade) and Bangkok, Thailand (9th & 10th grade) …and I remember living and going to school at both places!

One of the things I hated most about moving is that we had to literally go thru *everything* in the house! We had to get rid of everything that didn’t fit or were “ratty” ; we had to get rid of toys that were broken or falling apart, or that we didn’t want.

We had to go thru the last several years of photos and keep only those that were memorable … and of course, all the blurry ones and the ones that were of people we didn’t remember (or didn’t like!) got thrown out!

One of the great things about photos, is they let you recall so much of what happened … the other thing that is really wonderful, is that one memory often leads to another!

One of the easiest ways to keep your memories alive is with photos and photo collages, which is why I have so many around the house!

I recently got a box of photos that my mom had … in it are lots of photos of birthdays, Christmas, and other events that I do not remember … though I wish I *did* remember them!

There were a huge batch of my Dad at boot camp and in Vietnam. It was fun to hear his stories and see these photos from the 50s and 60s!

I love the sunset backlit clouds … the color wasn’t quite right, so of course I had to fix it!

Last night about 830p, looking west as some clouds started gathering. Sadly, no rain at our house!

I watched an episode of the tv show, "American Pickers.” For those of you unfamiliar with the show, two dudes named Mike and Frank travel the country looking for antiques and collectibles. Spurred on by tips from Danielle, the cool gal who I suspect really runs the place, they climb into rodent infested attics, packed barns, and other places where angels fear to tread in the hopes of finding something of value and not getting tetanus.

The episode I watched found the boys in a Portland clock shop owned by a man named John. And holy smokes, what a shop it was. So. Many. Clocks. And not just clocks, beautiful clocks-clocks that doubled as works of art. Clocks made with great precision; clocks that have stood the test of time. (Pun intended)

And during the Episode, Mike (my favorite picker) had a short monologue.

Mike: “Nowadays, unfortunately, we live in a throw-away society. The things that we’re buying right now don’t become family heirlooms because of they way they’re made. And the way we view them.
You know, when you go to a big box store and you buy a clock to hang on the wall, a kitchen clock or something, and it’s got a battery in the back of it, is THAT gonna become a family heirloom?
Probably not.
The price-points are a lot lower, and the craftsmanship is not there.
But John is a craftsman and he’s very good at what he does, so the people who collect clocks or that have family heirlooms that are clocks, THAT is his customer.
Someone that TRULY CARES about that clock hanging on the wall.”

Mike, buddy, you spoke my heart.

See, to my mind, that battery operated clock you buy at the box store is a lot like digital files. It runs for a few years, but before long, you end up tossing it. It was MADE to be thrown away. Or in the case of digital files, you won’t be able to find them or open them, so it’s pretty much the same as throwing them away. I mean, no one is going to say, “Hey, where’s the link to Grandma’s baby picture gallery?”

Remember: digital files don’t become heirlooms.

But you know what does? Printed photographs.

Don’t let your memories fall victim to a throw-away society. Print what you want to preserve.
