Thank you everyone for the wonderful turnout we had for our community meetings. Tons of great feedback and it seems like most folks want more good fire in the South Willamette Valley! We will keep this momentum rolling into a comprehensive report detailing the feasibility of implementing our community based prescribed fire module. We appreciate all of you.

You've probably heard the term "firewise landscape" before, but do you know what it means? It's about creating a safety zone around your home that can help to reduce the speed and spread of wildfire. With fire season here, take a moment to look around your land for factors that increase your risks, like woody material, tall dry grasses, ladder fuels, and highly flammable plants.

South Lane Fire and Rescue has some good resources including a checklist here: https://www.southlanefire.org/defensible-space

Thanks for the great turnout and conversation last night, Oakridge! We couldn't have done it without you, and a major shout out to Inbound, LLC for hosting us at your incredible facility.

We will be in Veneta at the Veneta Community Center on Wednesday, July 22nd 6PM-8PM and at the PublicHouse in Springfield Thursday July 23rd 6PM-8PM.

Let's continue the conversation!

Great work being done by our State partners.

𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒: You may see smoke Friday, June 26th, outside of Sweet Home, North of Foster Reservoir. ODF will be conducting a live fire exercise for the last day of the Mid-Willamette Valley Interagency Fire School.

These live fire exercises give our student firefighters the opportunity to practice what they've learned all week in a controlled environment.
