The Lane County Fire Defense Board voted to end backyard burning at the end of May. As of June 1 all of Lane County will be in a Burn Ban

One of the greatest obstacles to controlled burning? Insurance. When private insurers drop coverage or raise premiums for beneficial fire, fewer practitioners and private landowners can use controlled burning to reduce wildfire risk.

That’s why Oregon, The Nature Conservancy, and other states across the West are advancing liability reforms that unlock controlled fire, support cultural burning, and make communities safer.

🧍🏽 If you zoom in, the people look vague and inconsistent
🎥 The image feels cinematic and staged rather than like a real photo taken on scene

As temperatures rise and wildfire activity increases, you can expect to see more fake images online. They can create false impressions of incidents and make it harder to understand what’s really happening.

For real images and reliable information:

📱 Check official sources, like our social media channels and mobile app
📰 Turn to trusted local or regional news outlets instead of social media pages posting frequent AI-generated content
🔎 Take a moment to look critically for clues that an image may not be real
